I may be mentally ill, but so are a lot of gun owners and the mentally ill are a vulnerable demographic that are often distinctly targeted for violence. The modern US is basically designed to make people mentally ill anyways. With mentally ill queer people that’s like a double whammy of susceptibility to violence.

1. Nowhere in the United States can you purchase a gun and have it shipped to you, not unless you are an FFL holder. Regular people do not get FFLs as you have to actually sell or manufacture firearms (and a certain amount of them each year) to keep one.

2. The only exception to point 1 is the Civilian Marksmanship Program, which if you jump through all the hoops you can have an overpriced, beat to shit M1 Garand shipped to your door.

3. You can purchase a longgun (rifle or shotgun) from a private individual in Penn. without a background check. Your state does require background checks and for the transfer to be conducted by an FFL holder if you buy a handgun privately.

4. If you buy from a gun store or FFL holder, a background check is mandatory. No discussion. It's Federal Law. Lying on it is a felony. They have multiple weirdly worded questions these days as well so read them carefully or you might get denied.

5. Your state has no laws on buying or possessing ammo. You can get it anywhere and have it shipped right to you.

6. To buy a gun at a gun store, odds are you will need two forms of ID, I do in Virginia. I advise you call a gun store and ask what you'll need to purchase a rifle and what you'll need to purchase a handgun as it's your first time.

7. DO NOT ask about skipping the background check. DO NOT ask about shady shit like having it sent to you or how else to get them. Ask dumb and shady ass questions is a good way to get visited by the feds.

I listened to some conservative talk radio the other day in which the host seriously presented the idea that trannies are mentally ill so maybe they really should have their guns taken away on account of their mental illness. :) I personally had the displeasure of driving under the helicopter which was surveilling the area on the morning of the big recent one, so there's that as well.

While I don't want the state banning them from ownership with how common suicide is among transgender people I think a lot of them are more likely to use guns to kill themselves rather than defend themselves. I think focusing on unarmed combat is better for a lot of transgender people because it's a lot harder to kill yourself with that stuff and it also gives them proportional force as an option. Even teaching them knife fighting is a risk because if you really want to know how to fight with a knife you start memorizing arteries and stuff which you can use against yourself. Guns are also a legal option in only a few countries, so focusing solely on those has disadvantages when talking to people internationally.

Anon, even the NRA and the National Association for Gun Rights (further right than the NRA) are completely in opposition to banning trans people from having guns. Because they know that if the federal government can declare you a danger to yourself or others and take your gun, it will open the door to removing due process for everyone. Should Trannies have Guns
With the Second Amendment, the answer should be yes by default.
However, ALL people should be subject to review if they are considered a real potential risk to themselves and others.
Guns should be for hunting game and defence of yourself and your family.
If you are using your guns in an offensive manner, you shouldn't be protected by 2A

Unless the amendment says something like "All people should have guns so that rival gangs can blindly shoot at each other across the street and not care who the bullets hit."
