I think that the "people who menstruate" and "tampons in men's washrooms" activism has inadvertently misled cis people into believing trans men have periods on T?

Tampons should be in men's washrooms not for the sake of trans men but because cis people often use the opposite washroom in an emergency, especially cis women on their periods. Most people using tampons in men's rooms are cis women. The rhetoric around it, however, may be feeding a misconception that trans men experience periods in the same way that cis women do, when most don't have periods at all. You actually have to clarify to cis women that you haven't had your period in 7 years or something.

It seems that trans women's periods are more common knowledge than trans men's lack of periods.

Trans women don’t have periods either, there’s no mechanism that could cause them.

we probably need a better word for this and to actually try to study it objectively because at most it's only one small part of what a period is

unless you're seriously fucking something up there should be no circumstances under which mtfs experience period-like symptoms. most mtfs' entire hormone cycles begin and end on a weekly or biweekly basis at most.
i think there's an ester out there you can inject on a monthly basis but i'm pretty sure that's only possible because of how stable its resultant levels are, ie no dramatic spikes or troughs

yes it has but "non-binary non-hrt transmascs" are more common so they win
as for tampons i don't understand why they need to be in men's bathrooms since we don't even have them in women's bathrooms

as for the trans women issue it is a known fact that trans women can have female pattern pituitary action and that trans men stop having female pattern pituitary action although it is less clear what gross effect this has on the body

as an mtf unbeliever in the transfem period, what is the mechanism for this, legitimately, like what would cause the pituitary gland to do this (yes i know the answer is hormones but like what, actually, is going on there) and how do its symptoms manifest
bc i thought this board would completely reject the notion of such a thing and i figure this means i am probably ignorant
i have never, to my knowledge, in all my five years of hormones and four on high-dose injections, experienced anything like what i would describe as a period, granted my mother has always had a very weak period and that may be related

read https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pharmacodynamics_of_estradiol#Progonadotropic_effects and follow the citations or do additional research
my guess is between individual variation and differences in hormone/dose which causes severe difference in downstream effects because what this comes down to (what's measured and citable) is simply that the pituitary might release gonadotropin in a woman where it wouldn't in a man and it's a lot less clear what that means
(in a cis woman with functioning ovaries it means more estrogen but if you have functioning testicles it would mean more testosterone (but are they functioning if bathed in the estrogen you just injected?) and if you have neither, well, what does it do directly?)
even in the cis context there's a lot of mystery in this stuff
Anonymous No.40988340 [Report] >>40992238
>>40988264
we literally don't even know how it works 100% for cis women, but the rest of the body responds to sex hormones (exogenous or otherwise) so why wouldn't the thing responsible for controlling the hormonal cycles that men and women both go through?

Pretending mtfs have a period is something that is just going to universally and instantly peak trans every single woman that hears it that isn’t like fifteen years old.
No you do not have a “period” or a “cycle” or “hormonal fluctuations like a period”. No. No. That’s fucking insane. Like it is an actual delusional, psychotic thing to believe. It’s like saying shoulder blades are wings and talking about flapping your wings. It’s pure crazy pills and makes you seem psychotic every single time.

if a cis woman had a full hysto, and then went on estrogen (due to lack of sex hormones) would she get period symptoms? no
Anonymous No.40992245 [Report] >>40992780
>>40992238
depends, it could happen
women who get a hysto but keep their ovaries (AKA hormone cycles present) experience a cycle, and might even experience cramps in the part of the body where the uterus was, a lot of women on health forums post-hysto report that happening

unless you're on the smallest dose of T ever you will eventually stop bleeding. the only reason i can see tampons in men's bathrooms being a good idea is if
>a young girl starts her period while out of the house with her dad
>a woman needs a tampon but the ladies' is all out of them
>a no-T/early-T trans man uses the bathroom
the first two scenarios are so small in probability that they're basically irrelevant. the last one could happen but unless you gigapass before or early on T i don't get why you'd go in the men's bathroom.
the whole thing strikes me more as cis liberals wanting to pat themselves on the back as opposed to actually helping trans people. it's lip service, basically.

Some trans men get irregular periods for some reason, most likely because of a too low hrt dose or other health concerns.
Never happened to me personally, menstruating stopped for me completely only a few weeks in.
I had endometriosis, so I‘m very glad to not have to deal with that pain anymore.
