to me the greatest piece of art ever made is the legendary John S. Boskovich's Electric Fan (Feel It Motherfuckers): Only Unclaimed Item from the Stephen Earabino Estate from 1997.
the artist's lover, as mentioned in the title, passed away during the GRID genocide. immediately after his death, his family cleared out the flat they shared of both his and the artist's possessions, leaving only this electric fan. it's presented in an acrylic box with cutouts, which allow some faint gasp of air to escape, as though the final warm breaths of the dying man.

outside of controlling what your body is processing its also extremely important to consider your toilet setup. if you aren't using a squatty potty or some other way to elevate the feet during defacation you may as well be shooting up black tar heroin and smoking a pack of cigarettes with no filter every time you poop. if i'm using a public toilet i squat on the seat to emulate it. it's also important to ensure you do not form a partial vacuum within the bowl which can cause unnecessary strain on your body; make sure air can flow between your legs into the bowl. the general rule of thumb is to use the smallest amount of muscle force possible. you should make a slight effort to cue the biological process and then the rest should ideally flow naturally with no straining whatsoever.

i will also say that none of this covers the importance of a healthy gut microbiome, which is a particular concern if you are douching or otherwise engaging your rectum sexually. keep douching to a minimum, use body temperature water, and ensure you are only flushing out the lowermost section unless you're using specific toys or doing something more specialised like fisting, in which case you probably already have a technique that works for you.
in terms of supplements for your biome the science is still a little up in the air. probiotics like yakult and actimel are kiiind of a scam and just burn up before they get anywhere useful. there's some data contradicting that but there's also a lot of funding from those companies into this research so. go with god. ive experimented with a few different probiotic capsules or tablets which should in theory be able to deliver specific actives and the like to a specific location in the body but i can't say i could confirm any noticeable difference. for ME. some people swear by them. i just make sure to eat plenty of fermented foods and try and leave that area well enough alone that i can maintain itself. it's probably the most important factor and also the one you have the least control over. but if you're making sure to cover all the other points you're creating a good environment for it to thrive naturally. work with your body and not against it is the general mantra to good microbial health
