Society generally protects women and children, and you had a little taste of that protection when you were a kid but it disappeared as you age, and then you see women still being protected and valued into adulthood so you had the bright idea "Hey, if I become a woman maybe I can go back into that protection" Not knowing that it also comes with patronization, condenscending attitudes, being treated like a liability, and your value only being measured by your attractiveness - which is an uphill battle for you because you were born to be a cattle, a physical workhorse. And eventually the world will claim your use on both ends. You will be judged for your attractiveness AND you will be taken advatage of for your physical aptitude and mental vulnerability.

I am an effeminately gay male and I never felt protected or cared for as a child. It was obvious my parents realized I was gay, without ever admitting it, and kept me at a distance. When I was 6-7 they stopped letting me sleep in their bed when I had nightmares, and eventually them singing to me before bed ended to, and after that, I was just a burden.

Am i the only one who was latin old country raised in the US? There was no "safe space" when i was a kid, just do as you're told. Being a hispanic chick when i was little was a lot of "ver oir y callar" and ser "una muñeca de porcelana." I was beaten into perfection.
