learn eqs and compression. every instrument should occupy roughly it's own frequency band. give your kick a little bit fewer lower mids and pump it up down low. then turn up the lower mids on the frequencies you just lowered the kick in on the bass and lower it in the deepest frequencies. give the bass some compression.
this will give you a juicy, but punchy low end.
for everything that generally sits above high-mid frequencies like snares, toms, guitars, vocals & cymbals - cut the low end significantly and watch for peaking especially in the louder parts.
you wouldn't believe how much a good mix can improve a track!
