What does /lgbt/ think of the Castration Movie Anthology films?

In a recent discussion of these films on here, I saw director Louise Weard referred to as the John Waters of our time. The biggest difference, of course, is that John Waters at least had the mercy to not make his films five hours long. No such luck with these two trashy, bizarre no-budget underground Canadian drama films about a tranny prostitute, both of which have absolutely absurd running times that will most definitely test your patience to its breaking point. The second film, revolving around a twisted cult, is much darker than the first one. A third film is slated for release next year.

what is the deal with inflated runtimes? it's rarely justifiable for a movie to be even two hours

actually nevermind, I skipped around a bit and this has massive TPB energy except with more sex scenes

if they're anthologies can you just pause between the independent stories? i respect the decision artistically but i don't wanna watch a 5 hour movie in one sitting unless it's the best thing ever made or someone I love is begging me to watch it. I feel like going 5 hours without standing, moving, drinking, eating, going to the bathroom, or even looking away from the screen is probably bad for you.

My guess is they wanted to make a TV series, but there's absolutely no way any distribution network would have picked something like this up, so movie was the second best option.

Ive never watched either of them but they should hire me for the next castration movie. I'm sad I'm transgender, I wanna be castrated. I'll do it for free I just want attention. I think it sounds fun.

yeah im all for low budget indie, experimental bullshit movies especially about something as weird and niche as tranny culture but no film should ever be 4 hours long, no film should be more than 2 hours long.

not defending unnecessary 10 hrs of runtime but no way lol, 2 hrs is not that long for a movie, definitely short if the movie is actually good imo, sure some shitty flicks are short but 99% of the reason 2 or more hours is "long" is just various production shit and marketing/distribution.
