I went with music as it's the easiest icebreaker around me. With music, I can branch to other subjects. If I pivot on the video game and anime side of 4chan, I'll only get salty adds that seethe at you for not being interested in recent stuff. I play and watch some modern ones, but most that I look into are for retro and older shit.

NTA, but a fast trip to /a/ and /v/'s catalog begs to differ. Their boards are made up of people with recency bias that only like to talk about the hottest and latest things. /a/ has an anime retro general for years now, short of that, unless it is old manga being daily chapter dumped, if you make threads about old anime that isn't meme culture, like the ones in 4chan's banners, it falls off the board quickly. Or gets sage bombed by trolls arguing "it's old, so it's has been talked about to death already."
Both extremes are bad, mind you. /m/ is mostly about old shit, but it's full of circle jerking the same old things with a narrow and hyper specific mindset. /vr/ is mostly about older games, but it's also full of the same things being discussed to death by the same kind of people with rose tinted nostalgia goggles. Being "old good, new bad," IS an insufferable stance, however, being mostly interested in recent things is also annoying. In both /a/ and /v/'s case, the amount of releases is so large, there has to be a filter to approach them. Most people stick with recency bias, the board culture for both are made up of the types of people that don't like going back to try things before they were born, they mostly look forward and stay there.

This board could use poster ID's. I'm not the anon that posted his tag or interests above. I was sharing my experience with /a/ and /v/ over the years, that they don't like to talk about old stuff, and maybe that is why he thinks what he does. I think that /co/, /mu/, or /tv/ do a better job balancing out old and new discussions. They don't get buried in the catalog nearly as much, maybe because they are slower boards compared to /a/ and /v/.

I don't know a label for it anymore. I'm more socially liberal and environmentalist than most people. I like having a welfare state, even if I'm not as dirt poor as I used to be. I'm fine with national and religious identities when open to reform, but I really just dislike people glazing the emerging regional imperialism of our breakdown to a multipolar world, or excusing the sort of surveillance and censorship creep that "liberal" states are having right now. I think military spending is important for vulnerable countries and nuclear non-proliferation is detrimental. I dislike adoption, infant circumcision and pet ownership. I like guns. In theory I agree with feminist groups on a lot of issues but TERFs and some of their pathologizing has made me less engaged. Multiculturalism makes me feel a bit lonely sometimes but it's less bad than the far-right getting elected and I think more migration is inevitable unless climate change is actually addressed... it can also be a scapegoat for some forms of atomization related to technology. I think legislators should be open to new forms of economic organization as automation displaces people but I don't think UBI should just be an excuse to cut services.
