I love Aja and Can’t Buy A Thrill, my favorite steely dan song is probably Deacon Blues although there’s soooo many good ones like Kid Charlemagne, Only A Fool Would Say That, Third World Man, speaking of I need to listen to Gaucho LP but i still haven’t yet xd

but yes steely dan is in my top 5 favorite artists no doubt, literally was going to purchase a vinyl or sweatshirt or something off of the official store just now (I don’t even have a vinyl player yet rip but I will soon!!!! Maybe)

I wonder if Donald Fagen is aware that his recent resurgence in popularity is driven by people to the right of Hitler that would’ve wanted to exterminate all of his supposed influences. His songs are far more relevant to young White men now than they were when he wrote them. The Nightfly being written over 40 years ago is absolutely surreal. The degree of cynicism in the lyrics was outrageous even for shock rock acts like Zappa and there’s still nothing quite like it today. Geordie Greep is a wordcel in comparison and has nothing on him. If he recorded these songs today he’d be called the male Lana Del Ray. A lot of songs by the Alan Parson’s Project would similarly be called “incel music” today; another criminally underrated group/artist
