i remember i used to have the biggest crush on one of my old male friends in high school. he was tall and cute, and really didn't help i saw him pretty much every day. One day i got super excited when he asked to come over alone late one night... only to tell me how he just started dating a cis girl and that they had sex right before he came to see me. After that i pretty much stopped myself anytime i had feeling like in the future to people i knew pretransition.
