What the fuck do you do about ingrown hairs? If i don't shave i look like a mountain gorilla and if i do shave i look i have the fucking black plague. I've gone months without shaving to see but none healed. Just now i went ahead and dug out every ingrown hair with my nails. Is that the solution or did i fuck up? Will they finally heal or am i just gonna get a billion infections instead? I'm so tired i actually wanna die at this point.

maybe you're just like me and cant use razors bc of our skin and body hair. i changed to an epilator and it has improved a lot. you could try that, waxxing, sugaring, etc but the best one is laser hair removal or electrolysis

just wax, and also absolutely DO NOT tear them out with your nails that's a super bad idea, you'll make them more inflamed and the spots will stick around for longer
Anonymous No.41591824 [Report]

also also some kind of scrub with kojic or salicylic acid would help those dark spots go away faster

You’re gonna get scarring and infections if you just pick with your nails.

Exfoliate the area using a salux cloth that is clean and an aha/bha containing body wash. Pat dry the area using a clean towel.

Then you can wax the area. If you’re a noob, just buy premade wax strips. Place the strip and let it sit for 30sec then pull the strip off opposite direction of hair growth. Repeat untill the area is clean.

Wash off the excess wax on skin when done and use something antiseptic / anti inflammatory. I use tendskin on the wax area. You will have some redness and irritation but that is normal. Make sure to not wear anything tight, no unclean areas.

seconding this, shaving gives me horrible ingrowns anywhere below the waist but i have no issues with epilating. it doesn't really hurt after the first couple of times if you do it regularly, but the first session will be hell, just take a bunch of painkillers and power through it.

I don't know what you can really do about ingrown hairs other than what you get from looking it up online, but generally to prevent folliculitis and ingrown hairs, I have to moisturize my legs with a lot of warm water, cover them in soap of some sort, or even shaving cream (but that feels wasteful), and then shave only then. Just shaving dry or shaving with only wet skin would irritate the heck out of it and produce ugly looking patterns on my legs. This is what cis women I know do, too.
I used to be able to just shave my legs every day with just water in high school, though. Did estrogen make my skin thinner or is it just aging?

I already picked out like dozens and dozens of them. Am i fucked? I was thinking once the hair was out it could finally start healing. Just waiting and exfoliating regularly wasn't doing anything, they have been there for so many months.
>>41591904
I do always get them wet and use shaving cream.

What helped me was getting a safety razor to shave my legs with. Other razors are shit and make ingrown hairs so much worse

No you’re not fucked. Just by picking them you might get some they turn into inflammation of the follicle, some puss and redness, acne basically. If it still won’t heal visit a doctor or dermatologist. They will prescribe you an antibiotic treatment or cream.

Treat the area by keeping it clean. Once it has healed and closed you might have some discoloration. It’s an cosmetic issue at this point. You can treat the discoloration by using glycolic acid toners. It may take up to a few weeks to see improvement.

The ordinary makes a glycolic acid toner that you just can dump into a spray bottle and spray the area.
Anonymous No.41592313 [Report] >>41592690
>>41592267
wait the discoloration is not permanent right? will everything eventually heal?
Anonymous No.41592690 [Report]
>>41592313
It depends on the severity of the picking, how infected it gets and your care. Most of them will not be permanent.

If you get a really bad one that turns big, is red, painful and so on then it will most likely leave discoloration, however it will simply be a small circular spot that is slightly darker than the surrounding skin. That is not permanent but can last quite some time as the skin needs to turn over to eventually have “pushed out” the discolored tissue.

Exfoliants like glycolic acid speed this process up by gently removing the upper layers and speeding up this process. You can also use retinoids which speed up this process. If this does not help laser treatment will absolutely fix it, but they are for extreme cases, not like yours.

Exfoliate, epilate, kp bump cream and then moisturize, consider using an anti chaffing stick as well keeps legs smooth avoids irritation for sensitive skin while wearing pants
You’re welcome

I'm going to be honest you should probably just kill yourself. I'm not super sure on the specifics of why your leg looks like that but as much work as it would take to make that thing look even remotely attractive I'm gonna say you should probably just put a gun in your mouth and pull the trigger.

ppl who say to exfoliate for ingrowns are so spoiled lol. bad ingrowns are like 1 mm under the skin. only answer is to shell out 5k for laser i think.
t. legs start doing this every time i try to epilate
Anonymous No.41597601 [Report]
>>41593111
I'm joking you need to exfoliate/cleanse the area after shaving. Best to grow it out and wait until all of this heals up

next time you shave keep some of those saliyic pads for acne and rub it on your legs where you shaved every day until maybe a week or 2. if you see some ingrowns showing up keep doing it until they stop.

how do you even get laser if the hair is ingrown, wont it just not get the hair? i get the same thing without even shaving because my hairs grow like 2 in the same spot, it's just unlucky, but i dont want to gross out a laser technician
Anonymous No.41599618 [Report] >>41599842
>>41598821
LHR targets the pigment of the hair so it should still kill it. Also trust me laser techs will have seen much worse than op’s pic and will not care. Just make sure your body is clean before the appointment.
