it's always been this way. i remember seeing on reddit when the russians invaded ukraine that popular subs that are "left leaning" was constantly mocking the russians being gay because they saw one of their officers getting blown by a soldier from a drone.

Cisgendered hetero m here, the way I think of using that word is to describe shit that I don't like but isn't necessarily wrong. For instance, if I try a dish that I don't particularly like, I might say it's gay or that a faggot must've prepared it, but I don't try to weaponize the words against the lgbt community bc 1) my brother is gay as a goose and I love him dearly and 2) I consider myself "on the spectrum" as I am asexual. I love gay culture, though, y'all decide what gets popular and interacting with the likes of media such as drag race makes me feel cutting edge

Lefties are just as unprincipled as rightoids so I don't expect better from them, but it bugs me when self-proclaimed liberals do it. It's one thing when a homophobe gets exposed as a closeted sex freak or something (and even then intolerant language shouldn't be used) but implying every single conservative is gay (and thus giving into their beliefs that there is something wrong with homosexuality) or attacking conservative women for their looks (thereby affirming that a woman is most valued by her looks) is so backwards to me.

definitely not afraid of the gays, literally anyone I would call a friend is gay. Lgbt community has been there for my brother in countless ways over the years in capacities that I lack and I could never repay them for their support. They take the word "family" to heart and it shows, I love the faggots in my life and count my blessings for having them.

A male engaging in homosexuality will not breed, especially if he acts in the receptive (women will refuse to mate with that), ergo homosexuality is a failure. Its kind of like the ultimate failure to survive, from an animal evolutionary perspective, ergo it's a universal insult to males, akin to "loser", since it is losing, it's failing biologically. Even left wing males still don't want to fail biologically.

It's kinda similar to the way I don't think using the word retarded is not that big of a deal. OF COURSE people with disabilities are worthy of love, affection, and IMO medical care for these individuals should be provided or at least offered pro bono by the state. They are no less people than anyone else. I just never grew out of my highschool vocabulary, which in the real world is quite common, even among highly educated people. You honestly need to relax and stop grasping at straws trying to find something to get offended about.

I might if I knew they would take no offense. IMO it all comes down to intent. Was the word weaponized, or was it said in jest? I don't want to hurt people.
