I had a beefy 5e paladin man who fought with two shields, one on each arm. I took tavern brawler as variant human starting perk so they could count for other weapon based effects. The DM was very nice and said I could count improvised weapons as melee weapons, so I grabbed duel weapon fighting too when I was able. I'm not quite sure how to interpret this as rules as read but we ran that as though it gave +2 AC for the first shield and +1 additional for the second, coming from duel wielder. But the silly extra +1 to AC was whatever. I mostly enjoyed it for rolling far too many dice. I would used divine favour and eventually holy weapon so my shields would roll 1d4/2d8 extra damage die on attacks respectively. So a duel weapon attack would be like, 1d4+1d4+modifiers as an action, then 1d4+1d4+modifiers as a bonus action. There are much easier ways to roll bigger numbers, but for shields this was just very funny to me. Bonk.Throw in a divine smite for 2d8. So by level 2, using only shields, I'd get turns with 1d4+1d4+2d8, + 1d4+1d4. I took protection at level 2 so he could use those shields to protect my friends too. Played this paladin for like 2 years, I really miss him. Idk why I liked playing a buff man so much as I am quite small.

Very good post, I like it. I don't really know much about 5e. Well, I probably know a lot actually from osmosis but I've never tried to read the books and learn the rules. The rules I was talking about and am most familiar with were closest to 1e. Pretty sure in 5e doing whatever you think is fun is the raw way to play though so that all seems legit. What god did you worship, and how did it relate to shields? What subclass sorcerer? She human? I'm glad you're getting to play again that's wonderful. My outside fashion is based on the many random discarded items I've found abandoned on the side of the road or in the woods. I like lots of layers, wool being my favorite fabric. I'm wearing lots of different sweaters right now because I found a bunch over the warmer months but it was too hot to test any of them so I'm wearing something different that I've never worn before every night when I go out to see which ones I like best. When at home I'm either in sweatpants or dressed up as a wizard or wearing some nice clothes, I enjoy wearing a suit and tie when doing nothing around the house, the layers become comfy when you put all of them on and wear it proper.

I always seem to play humans :') I have not settled on a subclass yet as DM is letting me be indecisive. The gimmick for her is that her magic comes from desiring/getting attenion - she was a D list celeb. But she had to flee her home after a sex scandal. Faceless backstory so I can move between her famous persona and her 'I don't want to get pap'd' one. But ofc if she's not got eyes on her, her magic wanes.
