If the ending to Faust doesn't inspire you with hope then you're clearly just very low iq.

This book depresses me because i cannot believe it no matter how hard i try but with (a) God life seems pointless after being a hardcore christian up untill adulthood.

I like to feed my animal frens. I have been doing landscape work for an old lady who whistles to her birds and feeds them live crawlers and they fly up to her and she knows a lot if them by name. That's ganna be me when im an old man.

Oh shit, that's pretty cool. Safe to say this is a rare sight? I have rarely seen one at a time during the day, maybe a half dozen times.

Hell yeah brother. I think that they are the best at the "all meaningless, all meaningless you do, don't worry, do shit you like". (Camus can get the fuck outta here, iykwias)
Most others always give me the feeling of "do that and magically become happy when you are 45 years old". It might be good to have something to life for but it always leaves that bitter and sour feeling in the background.

Itโ€™s not looking good for birds.
https://www.axios.com/local/denver/2025/03/31/bird-populations-declining-colorado-report

Much like the collapse of bee colonies, bird populations have also suffered drastic declines.

There's nothing to be hopeful about except the extinction of mankind and maybe some artistic or philosophical projects here and there.

Happiness yea, but pure happiness at all times is not real. I think maybe a state of mind. I want to be able to see a future with a healthy planet, healthy human race, one i could maybe raise a kid. Sometimes i really think nuclear hollocaust might restart the planet better without us. I dont see a good future for humanity
Looming arou d i feel very hopeless. I would like to carve out a few acres for myself and read and chill with critters all day, but people like my retired mom on fixed income kerp getti g majorly fucked over property tax and insurance. Thanks for all the suggestions>>24461059

First thing that comes to mind is Edgar Allen Poe lol.
But cremation of sam mcgee and bessie's boil always make me smile.

>>24463689
Not surprising, although denver is one of the most polluted areas. I lived in colorado. Pine beetles killed most the trees where i lived

I also hope to not need drugs to function. I hope my mentally ill brother can get better and i wont need to care for him in old age. He tried to sexually abuse me as a kid. He can be mean and vindictive. Sometimes i want nothing to do with him but no one else is willing. Had to find his car in a different city after a psychotic episode he had last week, finally found it today after a week. Shocked it was still there.

If you don't have hope for the future, one option is to shorten your future so that you have less time with which to have hope.
