What? The raven represents grief. It's not subtle. The guy is sitting there mourning his dead girlfriend and then a carrion bird shows up and says "nevermore." And then he tries to kill it because he does not, in fact, fucking love ravens. Why are zoomers terrified to admit that symbols exist?

The teacher isn't wrong. It's not her fault the author might have been a retard who didn't bother to think about what exactly appeals to him in ravens, but thankfully we can analyze his writing to make suggestions about it.
>>24465485
It's not just zoomers, it has been that way for generaitons. Remember: most people in the world are not writers, nor creators. Even something as basic as symbols might be confusing to them, because they have not suppressed their gut instinct to take everything literally enough to be creative. If they ever take up books, they expect them to be entertaining, like a thrilling action movie. And dissecting prose for subtext is not their idea of entertainment.

Awesome. And so typical. Reminds me of the Kurt Vonnegut arc in the movie "Back To School".

Yeah, but there's a small joke in each panel now and the overall joke is still there and more coherent. That makes the artstyle forgivable.

I'd probably put the Poe ghost on the other side, maybe with quotation marks around it, and the 'cut your dicks off' right beside it so it's all implied as dialogue.

YWNBAW btw.

Never watched Adventure Time but I watched the rest.
The big difference is that most of the appeal of their art style was their worlds. E.g. Flapjack looks like shitty docks.
If you remove the environment, you end up with shitty stick noodles that I don't like. I was never impressed with Regular Shows's characters on a technical level, but I like how stupid it gets in the second half of episodes.

Poe was - clearly - making a comment on the finality of death and the inability to change one's past decisions. If Poe was going to write a poem about how much he fucking loved black carrion fowl he would have written that poem.
