It made me make sense of the world and my position in it. Made me avoid a lot of confusion and distress when my beliefs contradicted my senses. Also enhanced my critical thinking ability. I am now an atheist thanks to philosophy and might even ascribe to some form of socialism/communism.

I became an atheist at 13 without reading any philosophy. Would you say philosophy is like a crutch if you are not smart enough?

I'd say it's a ladder if you wish to achieve a shift in consciousness. Smartness got nothing to do with it. You were simply lucky to never have to be mind poisoned by religion to begin with.

some bits here and there are good life advice.
but overall its a giant clusterfuck of opinions with no clear criterion to say what's true and what false. well, unless it's analytical philosophy, but that's not philosophy any more.

Philosophy utterly destroyed my belief in the Mormon faith I was raised in. I don't think it's possible to seriously study philosophy and remain a Mormon. Christianity is another matter, and I believe in the Trinity today, but the Mormon system is so poorly constructed that even a basic knowledge of babby's first Platonism would be enough to undo it in the mind of a believer, given time.

Philosophy also helped me understand the questions I was asking and the answers I was given. It also helped me understand the systems of meaning and values surrounding me and frame my life in a manner more true to my values.
When I refer to questions and answers I refer to things ranging from "what is the foundation of knowledge?" to "what does this particular political party believe?" I have noticed that those who are totally blind to philosophy walk through life almost asleep, unable to understand the foundations of the things they believe in or question, and I believe those who know philosophy have a certain power over these.

Nietzsche convinced me that the death of god was a net negative, and also opened my eyes to how easily we misinterpret historical figures or twist them to our own desires. He explicitly states in Daybreak that he only denies that morality exists based on truth, that men act from error, which is to say that they're genuinely motivated by the belief that they're doing good but that the transcendental good handed down by god doesn't exist.

He goes on to say that he believes actions we consider moral should be encouraged and ones we believe to be immoral should be discouraged, and that the thought he would believe otherwise is absurd so it doesn't need repeating. Then he never repeats it in another book and everyone from then until now has mistook him as a nihilistic edgelord rather than a prophet warning everyone of an approaching disaster.

TL;DR It changed my opinion on morality and religion
