Do you sign your name in the books that you buy?

I was thinking of doing it for at least the rare books that I own. Thus, they will always be connected to me, even as they remain sought after or get passed down through the family.

I was thinking of buying one of those ex libris stamp thingy but sometimes I sell books I don't care for anymore and sometimes they get rare and those should remain in the best condition possible in order to keep the value. I'm torn bros, does anyone use an ex libris marker? They seems so kino

Many books feature a few blank pages at the back and I wonder if I should write reviews of the book in there

Nobody cares about your opinion of the book. Where do you think inflation of your ego comes from that you would assume a random person who buys your used books would care what you've written?

I put my name and the date I finished reading the book. Then, if any of my kids in the future take an interest in any of my books, they will have a cool kind of connection knowing when I read it. Maybe they can add their name and date of reading. Or not, whatever.

If the value is reduced by an ex libris stamp inside then it wasn't really rare in the first place

No one reads anymore so it's not like someone is going to accidentally pick up my books thinking it's theirs, unlike maybe a few decades ago. And even the people who do read read books that are identifiably slop, so again, unlikely they'll confuse my books for theirs.
The only place I can imagine this practice being done would be at university, expecially if you're reading in a library, but even then I doubt it'd necessary, as no one is going to steal your books because they don't read.

No, because I don't want to be humiliated after I'm dead when someone finds a book I actually cared about in a thrift store, marked down to 25 cents.

Unless you're the author or a ridiculously famous person, don't ever do this.

The high end version of this is having an ex libris that you glue into the book. People track and note the libraries of noted collectors. It helps if you’re otherwise interesting or famous of course.
