I've always wanted to be a creative ever since I was young. I've day dreamed about being one and tried working my ass off trying to write ever since I was around 12. My parents tried pushing me towards it for school assignments. I also wanted to draw but never got into it seriously.
I've been wanting to write again for nearly 2 years now and have barely made any progress towards that goal. I've only done one little drabble like 2 years ago and haven't done any exercises since then. I've been trying to get myself to write, but all of it looks too complicated and exhausting for me. I've tried multiple different strategies, but they never seem to work. I've tried forcing myself to write, but can only make myself write a couple of sentences for barely 30 seconds before stopping and looking at my phone again.
I've never been able to complete a single multichapter story in my entire life and actually coming up with stories isn't much better. I can't think anything through and everything about trying to make an entire story looks too hard for me. I want to be a creative really badly, but nothing I've done seems to have amounted to much of anything. I want to become one so badly, and I want to stop wasting my life doing nothing.
>>24470971 (OP)your anime consumption has likely stunted your creativity permanently unfortunately
>>24470975I haven't watched much anime either.

and advice is you just need to write, get in the mood and do it
>>24471066Different people have different methods, some listen to music, some drink wine and smoke etc etc. Being sleep deprived and that "second wind" you get works for me.
>>24471074No matter what I do my ADHD stops me though
>>24471077Well you gotta try all of those things, how can you know if you don't try
ditch all your devices grab a pen and a notebook and go write in the nature if you're so adhd brained you can't seem to focus
>>24470971 (OP)Add me on discord: leverkuhn144 I'm bored and have nothing else to do at the moment, I'll try to help
>>24471086>ditch all your devices grab a pen and a notebook and go write in the nature if you're so adhd brained you can't seem to focusive tried this before though it doesn't work
>>24471093Well I guess you're truly unsavable, try different things and something will work
>wah wah wah I can't write a couple of sentences on my pc because adhd or something
>>24471102are you going to give advice or just troll?
>>24471115If you haven't noticed I'm the only one who've gone out of their way to give you any advice whatsoever, I cannot force you to write anything and there is no advice that could make you do it if there is absolutely no effort on your part
No great author started their writing career with masterpieces, practice writing small things and go from there
>>24471126You're waiting for the magic ship to arrive and for all your problems to be solved in some other time through some other means. But you don't live a provisional life and you won't have a provisional death. No one will solve your problems for you.
I will share with you my coping secrets to actually get stuff done. Even with diagnosed ADHD which I no longer take meds for.
What you want to do in the beginning is break down the task into smaller task. Little manageable chunks.
Then break those chunks down even smaller into tiny bite sized pieces.
For some a really rough outline, sort of a list of plot points of a story, works for them.
Then they break each point down into scenes. Some break it down to even finer points but at that level I suspect such people are just procrastinating.
Instead, ether due to lack of something or just wanting to get to the point, I formulate the plot points in my head and key scenes for some of those points.
Then once imagination time is over and I have a general idea of what I want for the story I put on some music without lyrics to help add stimulation so I am less likely to get detracted, and just write in order. First sentence, which flows into second sentence, which cascades into first paragraph. Sure, I stop, I think, I get destracted a bit, but my mind is mainly on the story and I WANT to get back to finding out the details as I write it. Eventually I get a scene out and read over it feeling super satisfied even if it wasn't great. Just getting something out of my head and onto the page feels amazing.
Then do it again, and again, and again. Until the story is complete...eventually, or steam runs out for the story.
Start small.
Maybe even through tiny stories on 4chan here and there.
Try short stories. Long stories you know you probably wont finish. Retelling of stories you already know but in your own words. Stories that only exist in your head that need to exist in the world.
Stories that don't make any sense. Stories that make all the sense in the world.
Anyway, the key is to just consistently keep at it, even in little chunks.
Even if it's only a hour or two most days, and in that hour all you write is a few sentences. Keep at it and eventually you will have a complete story even if it takes awhile.
This is a spam thread from the poster named Howie, from the meme comic about the guy who doesnt know how to pet a dog. You can see versions of this question he asks on adv and ic frequently. Don't waste your time replying.
>>24471175Would have been good to know before I typed out a long-post, but whatever.
>>24471175Why make the same thread again and again? What's behind this?
