ITT we post the comfiest ever books
ITT: post the absolute comfiest books you can think of, fiction, nonfiction or otherwise. Only 10/10 comfy levels allowed.
Picrel is about a young widow in the late 20s-early 30s who took her children boating up and down the coast of British Columbia every summer. They meet loggers, pioneers, homesteaders, bears, cougars, deer, orcas – you name it. There are several stories in which they get themselves into quite a bit of danger too, and some very slice of life anecdotes too like where they're having breakfast or socializing with newfound friends for example. There's also quite a bit of reflections on the First Nations, even to the point of reverence. In one chapter they're exploring an abandoned native village (the natives would abandon and destroy their villages on the water and move inland for the summer) when they find an old Indian skeleton buried under a cliff on the beach, which they figure must be very old because the natives' tradition has been to bury their deceased in boxes in trees for centuries now. In another chapter their boat's engine dies when they're in the middle of nowhere. This book really exemplifies the strength and masculine resilience of the writer of the book, as well as her nurturing of her children and her conscientiousness. It's nothing short of a 10/10 comfy book.

If by comfy you mean hitting close to home in a fond manner, then 100 years of solitude. If you mean having an absence of hardship and being unchallenging, IDK as I wouldn't have read it. Maybe some YA trite.

slice of life of four sisters during civil war times. it's comfy AF, but the atmosphere resonates with the fear and possibility of their father never coming back from war, which in a way makes the stories more comfy

I've always been a big fan of The Pickwick Papers by Dickens, and Wodehouse.

Also, I love reading old pulp novels. They really capture that enjoyment I gained for reading when I was a young boy ie. a sense of adventure, mystery, and heroism.

Tainaron: Mail From Another City is extremely comfy and underrated, at least in the US. Woman moves to mysterious city populated by giant bugs, wanders around and writes letters. Hardly any plot, but very sweet and poetic.
