Proof positive that worldbuilding consultants should be a thing in scifi/fantasy writing
The type of meta-autistic who can world build is almost never good at characters and intrapersonal narratives (maybe once in a decade we get someone who can do both -if that) or the nuts and bolts of writing a compelling human story.
There are hundreds of examples of "well the story and characters are dull but the world is super interesting." and "loved the story itself, but the setting is a bit cliche".
We only really need a handful of the sort of spergs that can mine the annals of Kazak history, the depths of Indonesian animist religion, and pits of14th century Croatian architecture to build out a compelling original frame for a story to take place in.
(In this case it was a game, but its the same sort of thing.)
