>>24503616 (OP)>how do they address or reconcile the existence of diverse theological interpretations and biblical scholarship found in books and academic texts outside of their organizational literature? They don't. There's a Jehovah's Witness in my town who used to proselytize all the time, and while she was a nice woman, it's obvious that they aren't exposed to viewpoints outside their own. Whenever I asked her questions, she would immediately turn to the JW website to answer those questions for her. It got particularly bad when I pressed her on why they reject Nicea and the obvious presence of the Trinity within both the Old and New Testaments (including the blatant teaching that Jesus Christ is God within the Gospel of John), and she had to go into a whole spiel on how "God is just a title, there's tons of gods in the world". Literal Mormonesque henotheism. I hope and pray that the Lord can turn them back to the faith.
