It's not like there are other documents from the same era talking about the same things to compare them with and even if there were how would you guess if the Gospels or the other documents are the right ones?

The overwhelming consensus among New Testament scholars places the writing of the Gospel of Luke (and its companion volume, the Acts of the Apostles) in the 80s AD. Some scholars might push it to the late 70s or early 90s, but the mid-60s is almost universally rejected by mainstream scholarship.
