the book was basically a forgotten mccarthy novel and realtively obscure, and mostly meme'd on /lit/, until one of these youtubers made a video about it.
i'm telling you 99% of people talking about it on the internet have not read the book and do not know what the book reads like at all, or the writings like in OP's pic. they just listened to a creepypasta-like commentary on the edgy cowboy book without knowing whats edgy about it.
