>muh my whores are actually pure girls from inside sir
>inserts siberia and jail in every work
>writes all his female characters as hysterics on verge of madness
>muh without god you will turn schizo sir pls accept my god sir
>inserts a male individual with feminine face and epileptic fit every 2nd novel
>muh sinning into redemption sir in every 2nd novel
>socialists are le corrupt sir
>random schizo monologues about god every 2nd page

Honestly why do you fags rate him so highly? Every work of his is essentially part of his autobiography and everything feels same. Even his philosophy feels more like schizo rambling than anything coherent. You guys frauded me into reading Idiot, Kamazrov, NFU, CP. It's either moral decay of some midwit intellectual or some criminal turning to god everytime.
He was a midwit and so are you fags

>Before my marriage I had lived, as many young men live, in debauchery, and I had the idea of telling everything to my fiancée. I had a diary in which I had written down everything, and I gave it to her to read. I did this because I had resolved to be completely truthful, but I now realize that it was pride and a desire to appear better than I was

tell me about it. I just wish I had stumbled upon Nabokov's ravaging of this journalist piece of shit before I read him. it really put things into perspective, but it was too late.

not necessarily schizo, you will turn nihilistic and you will be sad. I think he's right.
>rate him so highly
Because the characters are great and have many relatable moments, and the ideas resonate with me too.

all of his characters are essentially same, if you read brothers Kamazrov it's repeat of same characters like Natashya changing to Gruenshka, Notes from underground guy is probably future of Raitikin, Aylosha is similar to myshkin in many ways. His characters are 1 dimensional many times in the way as Nabokov said don't develop, his characters change through guilt and that is just low effort honestly

>Notes from underground guy is probably future of Raitikin
Rakitin is portrayed as socially active and ambitious, Underground guy is self-centered, self-absorbed and always an outcast. Haven't read Idiot but saying that Dosto characters are 1 dimensional while referencing Nabokov of all people is just inaccurate. Maybe you were speedreading or something about Dostoyevsky's dialogues annoys you too much so you're unable to pay attention to the character nuances.

Rakitin aims to be socially ambitious but he does share the same loser mentality as NFU guy amd you are right maybe after reading him so much I started despising him. I hated Kamazrov which was the last book because I could guess most of the things that will happen, and their similarities come more and more in from of me from other novels. I despise how all his characters transform into vessel for his preachy ideas, so yeah naunces get lost for me. This repitation no Matter how different he makes it essentially makes me want to murder him from his grave. Fuck I expected something life changing from him but book after book nothing happened and frustrations of things repeating killed me from inside

given how Dostoevsky characters always descent into madness, socialists specially I think Raitikin is literally the past of that guy from NFU. And he is self centred, self absorbed, coward, greedy just not a outcast till now

I think if you're picking up some piece of media preemptively annoyed and thinking it's overrated there's no way you'll enjoy it. Maybe Dostoevsky's style isn't for you.

My problem with dostoevsky is that he expects you to take characters like Alyosha seriously.
Early gothic novels had more of a sense of humour about it.

Reminder that this russian nigger was a literal cuckold who married a slut that cheated on him on the very night they got married and continued to cheat on him for years while this weakling pathetic excuse of a human complied with her bullshit.

Schizophrenics are usually uninteresting, even less than the normiest of normalfags. Only a small subset of schizos are whacky shamans. Dosto is one of the lame schizos.

I generally like his big novels, but I don’t understand the praise Notes from Underground gets. It doesn’t feel as mature as his novels. Maybe an anon could explain what’s so great about it beyond „literally me“.
