according to Christianity the "word of God" is the dialogue of Jesus Christ, typically designated by red text, because Jesus is believed to be God
also, being religious does not mean you have to be blind, it is okay to acknowledge that the old testament was compiled over hundreds of years by anonymous, ancient Hebrews and that Genesis, for instance, is not supposed to be a substitute for humanity's ability to gain deeper understandings of the world through science
while there is indeed a gap between Jesus' death and the writing of the gospels, I find them to be far more consistent than the old testament and there is more evidence for the historicity of Jesus than most old testament figures
