I have already filled a case worth of notebooks this year, so 1000 pages front and back, and have read a fair amount of lit. Generally don't write quite this much but started a new novel this year so lots of going down random dead ends, character biographies, outlines, etc etc etc. Think that is my favorite part of writing but I am done with that until the next novel, now comes the painful part.

Me too, though I've read a few very short stories
I only have the desire to create, not the desire to read
Which is why I don't give a SHIT about anyone's book stacks
My boomer mom reads 2 books a week
For what?
I doubt she could tell me the plot of any of them 2 weeks later

It has been nearly a decade since I have had a basement. I live in what used to be a guest cottage of a mansion which no longer exists. It is pretty much a studio apartment in an apartment building with one apartment.

I suppose that might be true if the mansion still existed or the family who owned the property still owned it. Mansion burned down nearly a century ago, property was sold and subdivided and now has a dozen small homes on it with only the guest cottage and carriage house of the old estate remaining.

Was it Jay Gatsby's mansion and you're living in Nick's cottage?
