>>24531330Women *read*, that's why publishing isn't dead. Their tastes might lean towards romance but romance isn't some exclusive genre. It can easily be fused with something like fantasy/sci-fi which women also clearly enjoy going by the novelists at the Hugo awards.
>cant relate to women so men are the problemYes. I think you should be able to relate to some female characters but I think society largely discourages men identifying with women under any circumstance/
>No one gives a shit about sally rooneyExcept the people who read, obviously.
>men arent interested in boring shit about being social or in a relationship, they want action, adventureYou do men a disservice with this one-dimensional presentation of our gender. Men have historically enjoyed a wide range of works many of which aren't centered on action and adventure. Look, there's a thread up about Notes from Underground. There's no adventure in that book, it's largely about the social and alienation from it. How many men enjoy No Longer Human for similar reasons? Isn't Murakami's most famous book, Norwegian Wood, about a failed romance?
Focusing on action and adventure is a lost cause because that can always be done better by manga or especially video games and movies. The point isn't to appeal to the lowest common denominator anyway but to reinvigorate men with the literary spirit that our forebears possessed.
