I think some women have either been traumatized by or generally just don't like the relationship between women and men. The physical power imbalance, expected gender roles, sexual discrepancies, and so on. Homosexual romance is to these women a safe space. Everything you said was true- this especially. Even in today's West where catcalling and such is frowned upon, being a woman and enduring the endless storm of male attention seems exhausting- I've seen how straight guys, even very smart and respectable ones, flip a switch immediately when a cute gal's around and suddenly make total fools of themselves, and what I've seen must be barely a percent of the full experience.
