>Delillo is a better postmodernistConsidering his big works came after GR, which literary theorists count as the first and paramount piece of postmodern literature (see the Cambridge Introduction to Postmodernism), I'd say this is a stretch. Pynchon laid the foundation for literary postmodern tropes, but again, read the intro for a deeper dive.
>Kerouac and Hunter S. Thompson are more funI was one of the first defenders of Kerouac on lit. I think his best is terrific. That said, Pynchon has way more fun with his writings. In GR alone, you have Byron the bulb, the adenoid, and all the chase sequences, including the pies and banana peels. What you think 'fun' is is up to you, but unless you can lay out some parameters, this is a moot point.
>Gaddis is a better writer overallAgain, we're talking of taste. If you gave us some meat as to what you mean by 'better' and 'overall,' it would be easier to, as you say, explain why I think this.
Ultimately, you come across as a young one, and unread at that. Young people love to boil down artists to a few things they think they are. It's reduction. I understand why. The world is too big to swallow, so it's easier to break it down into inaccurate chunks. I made the same claims about the 20th century American writers when I was 18 (Steinbeck, Hemingway, Fitzgerald, and Faulkner). You'll learn eventually that your thoughts here are absurd.
