It's shonen slop but it has it's interesting references to culture and /lit/. Usually every island tries to mimic either real countrie's culture (For example, Arabasta being an arabic country, or Dressrosa being Spain) or some kind of cinematic or literary genre (For example, Whole cake is full of references to Alice in wonderland, Wano is full of references to Kurosawa).
One thing that I'm proud of understanding due to /lit/ is the name of Usopp.
Usopp is a character who is always creating stories and he is introducing by pranking his town telling them that pirates are coming, and when the pirates actually come nobody beliefs him. He also has a long nose lile Pinocchio when lying.
Usopp's name is formed by the words Uso (Lie in japanese) and Aesop (Which means "stories creator in greek, but it is also the name of the fables writer who wrote the story of the kid who pranked his town telling them about a wolf in tje forest, but when the real wolf appeared nobody believed him).
Franky is Frankenstein. Don Quixote is obvious, but there is actually one more Don Quixote character in Skypiea. Nami might be Izanami. There are lot more but I haven't watched it in like 5 years.
