I read an excerpt, and the blurb, from Intermezzo in my local bookshop the other day and I've absolutely no idea how this woman caused such a literary stir.

She writes clean prose bros. Her strength is dialogue. I've only read one chapter from the copy of "The Girl Who Gave Me HPV" while she was in the shower. You need to understand the world we live in. People do not want books to make them feel uncomfortable. They do not want to be challenged or made to feel stupid. Of course there are exceptions. But books have become synonymous with big cups of warm tea and blankets and rainy afternoons.
