Would you guys believe me if i told you that a small amount of the 4chan population was creating most of the (troll) threads and continuously bumping them to the top, killing genuine discourse and 4chan itself by demoralization?

what discourse, this place is a farce that attracts the most disingenuous faggots, college students, racists from /pol/, writers shilling books that are barely read, horny dysgenics who think they 'll find love by reading, failed poets who are in the first phase of grief, hopeless language learners who think learning french, greek, latin, german and spanish will make them experts in philosophy, christcucks hanging on their outdated faith by a thread, aspiring writers who think they'll be able to sell thousands of books, occassional third-worlders desperate for a crumb of acceptance, one or two women trying to defend the deplorable actions of an entire gender, a few oldfags who can't beat the habit of returning to this hellhole, and me relieved that i've found a thread i can dump all this frustration on, there's no discourse to be had here, and that's probably the fault of the times we live in simultaneously bringing out the worst in people who don't seem to know how to leave the comforts of their beloved echo-chamber

I share these exact sentiments, but there are a few users who want to learn and grow and share ideas instead of "winning" and reinforcing their beliefs.. I think it might seem otherwise because the loudest voices are always bumping their own threads to the top. Not just induviduals doing this but groups with agendas.

I'd believe it. It seems that whenever a good thread finally appears it suddenly erupts into flames towards the end for no discernible reason. I'm not sure what the point of this is but I barely use the site at this point so I guess it worked

my belief is that people who come to this board are naturally disingenuous but can't admit it, it's not about groups and trolls, it's about the sickly nature of a board that larps as the 'most intellectual' that by definition already carries a prejudice to everything else that isn't deemed intellectual, the primary drive of this place is to complete the western canon/lit top 100/the greeks then start bragging about it in /lit/'s esoteric fashion, on every general, thread and post, everything else is secondary, the next thing is to complain about white males not being published, not understanding kant or hegel, nietzsche, etc then the usual generals, wg, write what you want, classic languages, catholic, science fiction, etc, then we get the recommend me another mccarthy, pynchon, etc how to get a girlfriend, jordan peterson, controversial twitter posts, communism vs capitalism fukuyama thread spikes that reach 300 replies, at the bottom are genuine esoteric literature expositions about obscure authors, then the zero reply threads with new authors promoting their work outside wg, it's such a sickening pattern i don't know why i've waited so long to list it, by this point every /lit/fag should be able to admit this to theirself as part of the problem if they repeatedly visit this place and are triggered by the same patterns

I only come here to generate discussion about a book i just read and it only works if it's one that is constantly circke jerked.

I started using ai to generate posts that get the most attention. Thats when i started noticing the patterns of bait posts and who was posting them amd how often they were bumped.

I posted this in my thread in another board but:

There are 4chan mods/jannies who famously propagate racist propaganda and ban dissenters. There are obviously a lot of white spremacists groups spreading rhetoric. This is not speculative.

I have seen proof of anti pitbull groups of all things. This is not speculative.

People and groups with agendas are manipulating the catalogue, sometimes in numbers.

There is credible evidence, leaks, and investigations showing that groups — both governmental and private — have conducted influence operations, astroturfing, and catalog manipulation (e.g., shilling, bumping, spamming) on 4chan. Here is a summary of known proof:

---

1. Leaked Military & Intelligence Documents

JTRIG (UK’s GCHQ – Government Communications Headquarters)

From the 2014 Snowden leaks:

> "JTRIG engaged in 'Online Covert Action' by posting false information on forums and social media, including imageboards like 4chan, to influence discourse and public opinion."
Source: The Intercept – "The Art of Deception"

They explicitly used:

“Online Honey Traps”

Forum sliding

Hashtag hijacking

False flag posts

These tactics are nearly identical to 4chan thread bumping/sliding and derailing.

---

2. 2016–2020 U.S. Election Interference (Documented Cases)

Russian IRA (Internet Research Agency)

U.S. Senate Intel Committee confirmed that Russia’s IRA targeted /pol/ and /b/ as part of a campaign to radicalize and influence U.S. voters.

Used memes, troll threads, and sock puppets to control discourse and boost divisive threads.

3. Academic Research on Coordinated Influence on 4chan

Here's the smoking gun:

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/jul/15/kremlin-papers-appear-to-show-putins-plot-to-put-trump-in-white-house

>There are paragraphs on how Russia might insert “media viruses” into American public life, which could become self-sustaining and self-replicating. These would alter mass consciousness, especially in certain groups, it says.

"Media Virus" is the name of a book that was the foundation of the Cult of Kek psyop.

https://pastebin.com/4s91qRn6

>While too conceptual to be of any transformative value to the public at large, this idea goes to the heart of today’s viral efforts, and is certainly understood by those who consider themselves soldiers in the meme wars. Biological viruses are only successful when they are able to turn their host cells into manufacturing plants for more viruses. The virus interpolates its genetic material into the DNA code of the cell, so that the cell will begin reproducing the virus. Eventually the cell divides or explodes, releasing many copies of the infected code. This is how a whole organism can become infected with a single virus; the code has iterated millions of times. The strategy of these Internet viral manifestos is to use the iterative potential of the computer nets to spread memes about viruses housed within units that are themselves viruses. The virus 23 strain even makes reference to chaos math and the predictions of some fractal influenced observers that the world itself will reach a critical mathematical moment of “singularity” near the turn of the millennium. The virus writer exploits a chaotic device—the computer-generated media virus—to spread the conceptual and spiritual implications of chaos mathematics.

Meme wars and "chaos" combined. Written about in 1994.

The cover of the book "The Foundations of Geopolitics: The Geopolitical Future of Russia" by Dugin literally features an occult symbol for chaos.

https://www.counterpunch.org/2016/02/10/dugins-occult-fascism-and-the-hijacking-of-left-anti-imperialism-and-muslim-anti-salafism/

>>Here a heretofore undiscussed facet of this development will be broached (a guiding feature informing the subtext of Duginism’s ‘beyond left and right’ ideological catchall); and, that is, the Duginist appropriation of a primarily western occultist framework (and specifically the worldview of Chaos magic) and its transformation by the Duginists into a strategy for political action in the service of the Fascist Internationale.

https://medium.com/@StealThisSingul/operation-mindfuck-was-too-successful-r-u-sirius-interviewed-by-douglas-rushkoff-6607e4edc522

>R.U. SIRIUS: Probably, yeah. If you follow some of the ideological discourse from people who are really influential in Russia, it’s postmodernism and Operation Mindfuck in the service of amoral raw power and political strategy. I know secondhand that there are people in Putin’s mindtrust who have read their Leary and their Discordianism and so forth and they are following a chaos strategy for disrupting the American consensus… or however you want to phrase the collapsing neoliberal order. And not collapsing towards a good end.

The Cult of Kek is literally a fascist corruption of Discordianism, a hippie "parody religion" about Eris, goddess of chaos.

The "23" in Virus 23 is a Discordian reference.

You know all this, but are still here at the end of the day. You pretend to above it all, in true /lit/ fashion, without offering even a single idea as to solve this problem. And there never will be one, since board doesn’t have a problem. Expecting anything different, after years and years of the same content and patterns, is just insanity on your part.

The key has always been 2 things: 1. Not spending much time here. Skim the board once a week, if you post, open it in a new tab so you can refresh and don’t have to skim again. After a certain amount of reading this board does more damage than good. Don’t spend a lot of time here
2. Only look for individuals and individual posts. The average anon is completely useless if not cancerous. We see the same type of threads getting majority of posting every day…those are the average anons. Completely useless

Stay in your own lane as well. If you start posting in bait threads you’re no better. There is no reason to treat lit like the average social media site. It shouldn’t be about posting dozens of times to talk about the downfall of the west, how you hate women, liberals or Jews. It should be what you’ve read. Keep it that way and look for others that do the same

Lit would be better if it want anonymous. I bet it’s the same anons posting the same posts in the same recycled threads everyday. Let those anons be seen and shamed.

I came back to /lit/ a few weeks ago after more than a decade long hiatus and honestly it's not that bad. I wish moderators would be more active in removing threads that have nothing to do with literature—right now there's a thread on writers not being fit enough, three or four ones about “wokism”, two on e-books—but as long as you ignore poor replies, it's decent.
