Being polite is such a pleasant feeling. It takes a lot of the edge off of life. It's as easy as saying 'good morning,' and 'how are you.' Every interaction can be started off on the right foot by being polite and having manners--even a life and death situation, a duel, à la Diomedes and Glaucus. Why not approach everything like a gentleman? with nobility and grace? whether it's inevitable death or the cashier at Safeway.

>>24564629 (OP)Really been beating myself up for having done so little through my late teens/ early twenties, especially the phase 18-23. Wasted my time on working in fast food, construction sites, farms, and becoming unemployed on and off where I would do uselessly long hikes in a pathetically underprepared fashion, smoke weed and tobacco, or just sit at home and stare holes into the wall as well as set up failed plans on how to become some sort of wandering beggar artist jack.
Sike. Should have spent that time learning a useful skill and be a genuine human being, but I'll no longer Beat myself up over it. Found zhe rope I had bought when I felt the lowest, had it in case things go downhill too far and I have to kms. Had totally forgotten about it, I have completely supressed the memory over how actually depressed I was.

Most of it comes from the rise of international trade and mass manufacturing, where suddenly a lot of power was based around wealth instead of the divine right of kings. Politeness was a way of talking in settings where you didn't have to defer to rank, and had no idea if the other guy's ship would come in, and sometimes your best source was female. It's a system of workplace ethics designed to keep money moving and trading knowledge reasonably public.

Picture yourself as a pakistani immigrant working as an oil driller in oman. You have little to no contact with the outside. Your entire existance is working at the oil plant, practicing islam best you can and coming back to shore in one of these small "towns" nudged between cliffs so dry and barren they look like part of mars. The one thing uniting all of the various immigrants is islam, so these towns are essentially small mosques surrounded by the hovels of families. Everything comes by sea, the sheer cliffs are impossible for even bedouins to traverse so fish is the only thing native to the region.
Packaged like the imported food you arrive at the mosque to feel the warmth of humanity, maybe you have a very distant wife living in the town, maybe youre alone like many other men, maybe youre not even a pakistani but a hindu trying to mentally separate yourself from the sea of muslims you swim in daily. One night you see barefoot children playing football behind one of these mosques. The electric lights shine ontop of worn out cement walls, and as the settlement is so small and isolated, the night is pitch black. So the children playing football, the gravel and the walls look like the only thing that exists amongst an infinite abyss.
Do you embrace this existance? Do you see this moment of fresh air and sincere emotion as the most beautifull thing that exists in an empty universe? or do you deny it? do you obsess over the internet, the outside world, its wars and politics, and lament endlessly over your isolation from it all?
Who are you? where are you? does it even matter anymore? is there a God? is there anything beyond these mountains barely visible against the night sky? are your memories real, or has the world only come to exist now, here, right now?
The night air is thick with the buzzing of electric lights. They're not a memory. Youre not there of course. Youre here. Reading this

>>24564823Politeness is a distinct thing which arose in Britain due to publishing laws, trade, coffee houses, and, though you wouldn't know it now, The Spectator.
It was basically the UK version of the US show Crosstalk of its day, although with fictional characters outlining both sides of a debate in a civil and non polemical manner, though of course this meant leaning a bit liberal (Whig) and that involved taking a lot of bluestocking talking points (female)
There's an upsurge in manners books, specifically because people are coming with no background and heavy accents but still have enough money to function in society. The word itself comes from 17th C french, but it makes itself into a British standard around 1717, and spends the next 200 years developing into Emily Post in America. Courteous behaviour still exists alongside it in Britain, but it's reserved for the upper class, while polite society starts to encompass people in trade, like merchant bankers and dressmakers who have no hope of a title or debuting at the palace.
Can you do me a sexual favor?
>>24564953Overpoliteness is a symptom of social degeneration. So is your obsession with overresearching petty boring things like it makes you a literate. Basically courtesy is the natural faculty of man, wich degenerates into upper class snobbery, wich then degenerates into politeness. Today in the West everyone is overly polite, because no one wants to hurt anyone else. You should always be polite to the socially minimally acceptable limit, wich is universal thoughever just until the most savage jungle tribe. Then there's that modern Overpoliteness where you try to portray yourself as kind to anyone by being uselessly polite to show yourself on a better light, like you are someone better than everybody else. It goes in paralell with modern Snobbery among the upper classes, degenerate of the courtesy.

>>24564868Next, next. Theres always something next. But I've already told you what comes next, sleeping on a mattress on the floor, watching a phone or television wired up to a mess of extentions, a wife that may be just a pile of clothes on the floor. The day in the drill, doing and moving and carrying and using the machines.
Time
Always linear
Always redundant
Why do you want not to be a machine? Why do you value your precious soul? Why do you listen to the preacher, why do you believe in purpose, meaning, greater things still? Pointless philosophical and religious musings like this whole text. A cell needs not to know that it is part of a body. A chicken needs not to know that it lives in a farm. A human needs not to know that there's a God, a purpose, a meaning, an afterlife. But here you are. Wasting your time. Being alive. Someone else should do your job. Someone else should be stung by mosquitoes. Someone else should cover himself by the blankets and feel their worn out fabric.
Dirt, theres dirt and sand everywhere. Purpose. Money. Living. You wanted to believe you're special, perhaps you believed a lot of things. Maybe you do believe them. Yes. You believe them. You are a muslim, unlike the others. You have a God, a purpose. You do what is right and avoid what is wrong. You serve God. That is a purpose. That is meaning. Thoughts henceforth will be happy and great. Hopes will be born of your thoughts. Others who come lament will be inspired by your faithful response. Of course. Of course. Leave the irritating insults of the atheists and pagans behind. Leave the little device connected to the pagan world turned off. Of course. Of course
>>24565024I don't think you're pretending to be grandiose, which is why learning about on topic shit offends you
>>24565041You were taught as school many things. A state needs professionals to prosper. A mother needs his children to become rich to sustain her in her old age. A father needs to be proud of a worthwhile son. A son needs a father to sustain him. A God needs,
nothing.
Sleep. Finish your job. Finish your day. Stop. Let me be. Leave my head alone. Make my feet not hurt. Make the mosquitoes go away. I am not here. I am not him. I am not there. I am not him. I am somewhere else, awake, another man, another life, assembling a fictional tale from feelings and emotions, from memories that are not those, of that man, of that being there. The day has another context, another man. Another meaning.

>>24565046He was a christian going to a christian school in a christian country. He was still young and free of the future. But he was thinking too much, sitting too much, looking at the zanates coming and going across the trees. Doing all those things to pretend his own importance, sucking up attention by beating on other kids, getting empathy by crying at the sky and cutting his legs.
He didn't cut his arms though, because he was not like the other kids. Because he felt guilt for his actions, because he was a good christian, because he spoke at lengh very long things and very deep things.
Of course
Of course
He was a smart kid that got hit by a train. Of course. Of course. He was pushed by the crowd whilst waiting in the edge of the train. Of course, of course. It was very frightening and painfull when the train pushed him like a ragdoll spinning and then slammed against the edge of the station tunnel. Of course of course. All the families sent their condolences to the kid's family. Of course. And then they found the people who did it, and obviously they lynched him, as is natural, by beating him to death. And it was satisfaction for the blood of the kid, and it was satisfying to see them cry and beg for mercy whilst thinking of that video of them laughing. And it wasn't the same person, but our nation and society is hurt by crime and wounded by tragedy, so these things happen all the time.
I don't know if the family kept on living after that. I hope he wasn't their only child. I hope they healed around the wound of their dead child. I hope the parents told that to their cousins at Christmas. I hope when his sister and brother grew old they called him a nickname and always spoke of his personality and how some other young rascal of another generation is just like him
>>24565052The other kid would listen to his parents, to not be like him. The other kid would not lisent as intently, and talk to other kids how asian parents are always like that.
And he would work in the factory as is common in the ccp. And he would grow old and die as is natural in all countries. And he would listen about the ignorance and stupidity of the other countries as is natural in all countries.
No, you are cynical, you're a true individual, youre an atheist, living in an atheist country, a better country, who knows how to round up cultists and all those stupid people who think there's magical beings out there to protect them. A rational country. And everyone else is just lazy, and you do better than what people order you, and they can't deal with it.
So you will rise to be better than them. Because you're better than them, because you know.
You know.
You know more than them. You don't. You don't. You dont know the answer to this questionaire. Youre such a stupid worthless pile of shit.
>>24565061Time goes shorter. Because i dont know better. I am not of enough knowledge to tell you all these stories. They came to my mind, divine, they're too long, i know you wont read them. They're too long.

No
It won't.
The quest was focused on so many simple answers, and then they want this stupid "write a story" nonsense. Some kind of philosophical musing. Some kind of esoteric nonse. Some kind of pourpose. To combat historical nihilism. To combat nihilism. Of course you're not a nihilist. You know there's a purpose, there's a God. Its just the stress of this test that makes you think there's a God.
Who were we?
Ah yes, the chinese student. We did all those things to see the different perspective of different people across the world, and the fact that they all have a similar something is supposed to be a message on society or something. Wasn't it seamless? Wasnt it philosophical?
I think not. Im writing thing after thing, i cant see your feedback in time. Nevermind that. I saving this text somewhere in case i ever need to give someone a story. Who knows. Maybe I'll even give it some profound message at the end.

I get up from my floor mattress filled up with sweat, looking at my vigorously lean yet muscular body through a tall yet narrow mirror, filled up with dort that stands in the middle of the wall.
Unlike all the other days, I put on my suit. I walk out of the container, a bag in my right hand, a paper inside my pocket that will tell my boss I want to quit and a minty chewing gum inside my mouth. Hawaii sucks. Traditional Hawaiian music sucks. It all sounds the same. The ukulele is a boring instrument. None of the shit people say about the aloha spirit is legit, especially not considering the ancestors of today's Hawaiians spent centuries killing each other. For every auntie or uncle who will help you out of the goodness of their hearts there's a dozen thieves and drunks who see nothing wrong with fucking over haole. The drive down island gets old really fast. All the beaches look the same. All the hikes look the same. All the instagram thots taking the same pictures at the same tourist hotspots acting like the whole world exists as their personal toybox get really fucking old really fast, especially since the dating apps on the island are filled with their ilk looking for ~summer flings~ and *vibes* and a "guy in finance" to fuck during their vacay. Groceries are expensive, housing is expensive, electricity is expensive, and all of it will just keep getting more expensive as people get priced out and faceless suits and unfeeling amoral boomers buy up the properties and everything ratchets up further just to make the line go up on an investment property portfolio. Something I need clarification on: you know how see on TV and the movies people in a standoff pointing guns at each other, maybe pointing a gun at someone who's got a gun to a hostage; is the worry that you'll miss your shot or that even if you hit the guy right in the head, they'll still have the ability to shoot back? Is the latter really true? Shooting someone in the head won't stop them cold and they'll still be able to get a shot off or two before they drop?

I have an old friend who messages me to reconnect every now and then, every single time, flakes the day of with some flimsy excuse. This has happened six or seven times now. We will make a plan for this or that Saturday, the day will arrive, I will message to get an ETA and they reply saying they have COVID, swamped with work, injured their back etc. etc. They never reach out to me to cancel, it is only once the actual day comes and we are an hour or so out from the event that they bail.
At first I would feel disappointed and put effort into rescheduling, now I just ignore them or make 'plans' without expecting them to happen. I've lost all interest in this friend, for obvious reasons, and yet they still chase me up and repeat the same pattern of behaviour time and time again. I only wonder what *they* think is going on. Don't they see the string of cancelled plans between us and feel embarrassed?
>>24566407It's not as easy to aim and hit someone in the head as it might seem. Cops are trained to aim for the largest area which is the torso, to minimise collateral damage.

>>24566449Well, like I said, they could be hooked on drugs. Been there, done that. You get good and loaded up, feeling social, hit someone up, make plans, then the day comes and either you're feeling hungover and burnt out or you haven't been able to get your fix yet and have to cancel, etc.
>>24566379I am not that confused. I know what you are saying, but more than a mindset, i think willfully labeling yourself as an incel comes from the desire of wanting to belong to a group of people that commonly identify as such.

My dream
I'm in a pine forest. It's close to dark. Gloomy fog fills the woods. It's lightly raining and now and then distant thunder rumbles. I'm climbing ever so slowly, tracing an upward slope which takes me towards I know not what. All is hidden in the wood.
The forest suddenly clears way. Above me, the slope runs on towards a mountain which rears huge overhead, its peak lost in the fog. I follow an ancient stone path out of the woods towards its feet. Behind me, the slope offers me a view of the terrain beyond, a forest that stretches to the horizon. I see no sign of anything built by human hands, no signs of any life which moves. I continue climbing.
The way turns rocky and barren. The fog enshrouds me and the halfway-glimpse of the peak above is lost. The air is still, hushed. The sound of my shoes crushing gravel underneath is all I can hear. Here and there the terrain is broken by large, oddly-shaped boulders, all smooth contours, like stones left in a running river. I round one such boulder and find an opening in the mountain.
The cave beckons me. I enter its dark mouth. The way is cramped, and the rough stone scrapes at my arms. Soon I turn to crawling. A long time passes in the black passageway, and the immense weight of the rock overhead presses on me. In time, I come out into a large chamber, at the heart of the mountain.
A hundred feet ahead is the far wall. The opening in the rock is roughly spherical. An outcrop traces the edge of the chamber, only a couple feet wide, while the center drops away into darkness. Faint light comes from above, through some crack in the stone. I stand on the outcrop and peer below.
An enormous stone wheel lies on its side in the bottom of the chamber, fifty feet below me. Its axle is a black stone pillar. Around the edges of the wheel, human figures can be seen, halfway crushed into the rock wall. As I watch, the wheel grinds with lumbering force, driving the figures into the rock. A voice speaks, a voice like the stone below.
'one day your turn will come too'
My body is now gone. I become the stone pillar at the center of the wheel. The passageway through which I entered caves in with sudden violence. No longer possessing arms or legs, I feel the immensity of the earth as my body, feel the stone wheel as my hand stretching forth. I turn. Beyond the chamber, above the mountain, the stars wheel overhead, and the days chase the nights into new days. The forest burns, then grows again. A sea rises nearly to the mountain's peak, then recedes. In my chamber, I turn the wheel on and on.
