My favorite English translation of the Koran is by Abdullah Yusuf Ali, a Cambridge student. It reads like the King James Bible, it's the translation I've chosen to preach Islam here in the Southern United States.

If you have not read the Holy Koran, this is a good English translation with eloquent language. Strictly speaking, the true Koran is Classical Arabic, but it is easier to start with a translation than to learn how to read Classical Arabic.

It is actually difficult to procure a proper Mushaf, a full Arabic Koran, in many local libraries and bookstores.

There is not a single library or bookstore in my area that carries proper Mushafs. Most are printed in the King Fahd Complex for the Printing of the Holy Quran in Madinah, Saudi Arabia, where the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) was exiled to from Makkah in the Hijrah.

This is a proper Mushaf from Madinah, it is entirely Arabic in an illuminated script.

Mushaf quite literally means a collection of pages and printing itself has origins in the Islamic world.

They also print Yusuf Ali's translation, it is a nice hardcover with decorated pages and annotation. It is read from right to left, as is Arabic script, much like Hebrew.

Yes, Islam is in fact growing each year here in my small town. Islam is the hope of the poor and oppressed and confirms the teachings of Jesus in the Gospel.

Islam in the USA actually begins in the Southern United States. The first Muslims in the USA were slaves from West Africa, most forcibly converted to Christianity by slave owners.

Each year I see more and more hijabis and Islam provides a way out of self-destructive vices like drugs and alcohol. Am trying to make a positive change in our community.

It is not a tough crowd in any sense, Southern people are receptive to Islam as they take religion seriously and Islam confirms the teachings of Jesus Christ.

The Koran teaches that Jews and polytheists are the most bitter towards Muslims the most and that Christians are our closest brothers in compassion.

Despite this, Christians and Jews are considered People of the Book and not disbelievers, as the Koran affirms the truth of the Torah and the Gospel as well as the prophets.

Even if you are not a Muslim, I believe it is important to read and understand the Koran.

The founding fathers of the United States studied its translations and it dictates the foreign policy of the USA.

It is important towards understanding history and the world itself as an educated person.

>I believe it is important to read and understand the Koran.
I have read the Quran many times (grew up Muslim), but honestly, what exactly does the Quran uniquely have that the Bible doesn’t?
For the most part, I see more “Christians” having read at least parts of the Quran than “Muslims” doing the opposite. What the typical Muslim doesn’t understand is that a typical Christian would find the Quran shocking, as they would with a lot of the Old Testament. There’s nothing in the Quran that compares to the gospels, which are more like the hadiths in practice, but quite notably different from Jewish or Islamic teachings. It’s no surprise Jews says Muslims are closer to their faith in practice than Christians, as the Quran reads like the Pentateuch. In any case, what exactly is unique about the Quran other than it’s read and recited Arabic and was preserved well once an official Quran was established?

Are you being truthful about who you say you are and what you have read?

The Koran is the basis of Islam, it establishes the pillars of the Islamic faith, including the most basic things like the Shahada, Salat, Sawm, Zakat, and Hajj.

The Koran is not the Bible, and it comes from the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The Gospels are nothing like the Hadith, and the religion of Islam is not Judaism.

This is the most basic understanding of Islam as a religion, which is why I suspect that you are not truthful about who you are and what you have claim to have read.

There are even matters of the prophets of the Torah and the Gospel only found in the Koran, such as the life of Abraham and the life of Mary. Let alone the entire religion of Islam.

What you are saying does not make any real sense. For one, Muslims accept Jesus Christ and the Gospel, and the Koran teaches that Christians are the closest brothers of Muslims.

The things you are saying do not make rational sense. The entire existence of the religion of Islam is based on the Koran. It does not make sense to ask how it is "unique" when it is an entirely distinct revelation from the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

wtf kind of response is this, I was born and raised Muslim in a conservative Muslim family, learning Arabic and memorizing surahs…you gave me the most surface level information about Islam it makes me wonder if you’re a new convert or insulated to the world. To this day I still have surahs memorized, even though I haven't considered myself Muslim for nearly two decades.
>Muslims accept Jesus Christ and the Gospel
Yet 99%+ have never read the gospels…the logic is that it’s corrupted and the Quran is perfect so why bother.
>It does not make sense to ask how it is "unique"
Because a very basic claim against Islam is that it’s derived from the varying religions in Mesopotamia at the time.
Anyways, find me any three chapters of the Quran (and/or Hadiths) that compare to the teachings of Christ’s sermon on the mount. Alternatively, feel free to suggest any three chapters to anons here to see for themselves what Islam is all about. I am more than happy to drop Matthew 5-7; I feel like the obvious difference between the nature of God according to Christ and according to Muhammad is extremely apparent (Allah is more like God in the Old Testament, hence the exoteric similarities between Jews and Muslims).
