My Shakespeare collection is missing the following three
>The Winter's Tale
>Two Noble Kinsmen
>Pericles, Prince of Tyre

Are there worth seeking out or were they excluded for a good reason? A brief look says they fall under late romance whatever that means.

Winter's Tale is weird, but certainly worthwhile. Three acts of a tragedy, then a big time skip and two acts of comedy. I think the first three acts and the conclusion easily make it worth reading.

Pericles is also worth it. I have no strong feelings either way on Two Noble Kinsman.

What? lol what Shakespeare collection just misses out three plays?

>The Winter's Tale
>Two Noble Kinsmen
>Pericles, Prince of Tyre

>Are there worth seeking out or were they excluded for a good reason?
Winter's Tale needs to be read. The other two are collaborations (about half-Shakespeare, most think) and not as good, although if you're reading everything else he wrote, you might as well do these as well.

Seems weird to omit WT. If they really didn't have enough paper, it looks better to drop Henry VIII, which is also only about half-Shakespeare.

Late romances come from the end of S.’s career (after the major tragedies). They're a mixture of comedy and tragedy. Normally there's a setup which looks as though it's going to be tragic, but then disaster is averted and there's a happy (or partly happy) ending. They are often based on very old stories and often have supernatural elements.

Winter's Tale is a typical "late romance". The basic premise is similar to Othello (man unjustly suspects his virtuous wife of infidelity) but then it twists around and averts total disaster. (Cymbeline does the same thing.)

My RSC copy of the complete works has all three. It's an utter tombstone of a book though, a bit awkward to use.
I could've done without Titus Andronicus.

Winters Tale is worth a read.
I haven’t read the other two so I have no opinion on them
