I suspect this is meant to imply Tom Clancey is pew pew action like the movies which have his name on them instead of a bunch of machine specs and hopes nobody here has read Tom Clancey to know that.

There was always a Koontz vs King rivalry. I was King, and had read no Koontz yet. The girl I talked books with in college, was Koontz and a few Kings. We exchanged books, talked books, and yes it was wonderful that way.
But be that all as it may, she all but insisted I read a Koontz. I remember the bad guy? Was "Tick Tock", and he could freeze time. Two regular detectives, knew it. The whole rest of the book? Played it straight, but there was a supernatural ability killer out there. Book was also notable because the male detective of the pair chasing Tick Tock, quoted a shit ton of crime blurbs. The author noted, they were all real life.
Book was pretty cool. Based on that Koontz? I'd give any others of his an even chance.
