Why are pessimists like this?
>bro life fucking sucks, there are no moral facts and nothing matters and it's better to die as soon as possible and we should blow up this planet from outer space
>btw politically i am a socialist and i vote democrat and my short story small people IS NOT i am repeating IS NOT i am repeating once again IIIIISSSSSS NOOOOOOOOOTTTT about minority persons
>his forum is filled with the most woke """nihilist""" assholes ever
Thomas Ligotti is a chicken shit pussy like all pessimists. They literally pray for the annihilation of planet, they want TOTAL HUMAN DEATH and then try to larp as moral men.

Pessimists are worst than any genociadal tyrant because at least they want to save their own people.

They have a gap in between each existential crises where they find the time to be emphatic for those in need and choose the left wing political party as the best choice from a two party system because both parties suck anyway.

Do you never feel the weight of the unknown infinite universe and then get a little nihilistic? Or do you just hold on tightly to the bronze age fairy tale stories for meaning?

pessimists challenge creation. if people accepted everything to be perfect as is no one would invent anything or make art. but it's clear that it's far from being perfect, it actually sucks.

Not everyone is murican you stupid cunt. My point is that pessimism is a reactionary and misanthropic philosophy, period! Both of these things are in total conflict with leftist ideology with its belief in human goodness and progress. Being a pessimist and wishing for the annihilation of universe is the most dark position that you can take. The silent message of pessimist literature is suicide. Imagine telling kids that they should kill themselves because there is no hope and life sucks and then finding your redemption in election, ffs. HAHAHAHAHAHA

You could ask the same thing of post-modern nihilism. In the end, it suggests fascism, not radical left politics, but it almost always heads towards leftist egalitarianism and victim worship, despite its patron saint Nietzsche saying quite the opposite.

No, you're definitely wrong. You eat American food, consume American music, and follow American celebrities. And if we didn't have troops on your soil you'd chimp out like a bunch of ingrate monkeys. When Hobbes was speaking of "the state of nature" he was more or less speaking of humanity devolving to a pre Anglo state of being. He was talking about you. You and your "people".

The problem is that pessimism is just as a limited reality tunnel as all other but the fact that it think it knows about existence give it a heavy gravitas that makes it seem as a rational choice. Pessimism is close to the delusion of a depressed person or a psychotic. That is, its beliefs seems unshakable to its owner.
In the end, however, pessimism is a mental cage that is just as valid as schizophrenic delusions. It's a reflection of the mind of the pessimist, not a true appraisal of the real state of the world.
That said, I think the way out contemporary life is organized - society as a big factory with little time and money to enjoy life, with only a few getting enjoyment while others have to toil for pennies - may cause a spread of pessimist ideology due to its unbalanced and unnatural organization that cause people to feel mental anguish. In this case, pessimism is just the result of living in an unnatural society and a a reflection of the state of meaninglessness that such a society produces, not the real capital T true state of existence.

yeah man totally agreed, looking at this ephemeral world full of injustice and sickness, only a schizophrenic would think it's bad. it's just a delusion you know, whatever you're prone to think that's what you end up thinking. and capitalism too.

What's it called when someone errs more on the pessimistic side of things but still irrationally longs for some ideal to live for and devote myself to, as in taking on the challenge of life.
Like sure, the constant state of things is decay. Existence is a campaign between life and death, and life is losing. Surely it'd be better to put up a fight at least?

When he drops the bomb that that wasn't his house, that was HER house, and now he's at the door is so good. That and Aunt Elise's monologue at the end, both in how it's written and how it's so weirdly believable that this selfish old woman would essentially steal his soul to relive Christmases
It's been a while since I've read Noctuary, probably should give it a reread. The only one I remember much of is Conversations in a Dead Language, which I liked.
You ever read the scripts for Crampton or Michigan Basement? I can see why neither of them ever got produced; in the X-Files version of Crampton Mulder and Scully don't sound like themselves, and the non-X-Files one doesn't really have enough to stand on its own. That said, I love the ending. Michigan Basement is alright, but definitely not him at his best. Hard to portray his kind of horror in a visual way.
