I genuinely have no idea. IMO it's actual brainwashing via peer pressure, teacher pressure, aggressive essay questions and aggressive grading at college. My sister went in a normal girl and came out very learnt about English literature (mainly because she is a genius and actually did all the work she was supposed to do, and more). But she also internalised a bunch of man vs woman tropes. She's relatively moderate still, but whenever women in history come up or some kind of perceived slight of the female sex she starts seeing red.
Still a lot better than my classmates at college. I studied history and the most normal girl in my class wrote on the history of fashion, lol. The others only ever wrote about women in this, women in that. Little genuine interest in the actual subject.

Funnily enough, I moved to London from my quiet town and after a whole bunch of unpleasant experiences here I definitely understand this despite being a guy. I was almost killed once by some random guy I had never seen before and the way I perceive the world has never been the same since. I am guessing that many/most women operate in that threat assessment mode naturally.
I don't really know how prominent this is though. Before I moved to London I actually never met women like this. None of the women among my family, friends and acquaintances seemed to be afraid of men at all.
