That happened to me in middle school. We were reading aloud about Egypt, and instead of saying Niger River, I thought it'd be funny to say Nigger River.

Nobody laughed. I heard some of the kids in my class actually gasp in shock, like they thought they were actors in a movie or something. The worst part was that the teacher made me go out during recess (I got detention, obviously) and find the one black kid that was in our class so I could apologize to him. I did it, but he also literally didn't give af that I said that shit either.
