The remaining 2% is just continuing to churn shit out, that's the easy part because now when you go to a publisher or gallery you already have a portfolio and they will shrug and say "I presume this is fine, sure, we'll publish you."

Layer this on itself for a few years and you have a portfolio. This is the backstory of nearly all major writers and artists in the last century.
