I just found one of these little bastards on my bookshelf. I went through every book and didn't find any more.
Wtf do I do Anons. Is there anyway I can treat my books to kill potential eggs?

Fucking ask ChatGPT like everybody else.
Share your silverfish stories. I like these little guys, always found them as kid among my dad books. They never grossed me out somehow. Based silverfish for literally consuming literature.

RIP.
But just ask ChatGPT, like >>24618832 said.
But I had to deal with them small and somehow really fast niggas too. It was thankfully in my second place of residence, where I don't have many books. My shelf was too smooth for them to climb upon. And there are some pretty potent genocide sprays out there. I used one called ARDAP. I don't know if this is available in your country though. There weren't many and I let my German genes take over.

So put your books away, spray a thin layer of genocide spray across every path they could take towards your books and else erase them from existence inside your house.

Gather your collection and take your books one by one and wrap them in a plastic bag, trash bag, or some other protective covering to avoid wetness / stains and stick them in the freezer. The coldness will get rid of any smells and kill any pests and their eggs in the same breath. I recommend starting with your largest and oldest books first, more so if they already had silverfish problems already and if you bought them online, at garage sales, used bookstores, inherited them, or otherwise come from sources that contain silverfish. Make sure to keep the frozen books away from any possible contaminated books. If the problem continues, You can also dust your books, bookshelf and possible entryways with Diatomaceous earth and Boric acid or set up some homemade or store bought traps in the future. I almost always throw used books I buy in the freezer as soon as they come home to get rid of possible smells and pests.

KEEP IN MIND that freezers do not kill mold but only stop it's growth for a day or two after being taken out of the freezer, you're going to have to vacuum and clean every infected page yourself.

They look hella creepy but if you arm yourself with this knowledge, you can learn to ignore, or even appreciate them. Also they eat flies and other annoying insects, so they're total bros really.

I don't mind most bugs in my house but deal with an infestation of various bugs and you'll change you'll tune. When ants crawl in your bed and bite you or you have to deal with the smells of stinkbugs or false ladybugs or, god forbid, cockroaches and termites, you will change your tune.

I'll believe it when I see it, until then, sounds like bullshit to me. I'm an incredibly paranoid person when it comes to insects, I would notice one of those things from a mile away and in 30 years of my life I have never once seen one. So I'm pretty sure they don't exist in western Europe. At least not in any halfway clean and dry home.

No. I live in California (dry) rarely rains and this is the only place in America I've encountered them. They do fine breeding under the bed and in hidden places in the bathroom. If you make a late night trip to the bathroom you will see them crawl across the floor.
