tfw another man will never press me up against this cabinet, shaking it and causing the assorted knickknacks lying upon it to rattle audibly, and tfw he will never kiss me forcibly, sliding his warm hands under my shirt, tickling me, making me blush, and moan, after i offer to show him my collection of proust and montherlant books

Anonymous No.24637357
My boyfriend, and my mother who lives with us, refused to allow me to buy an adequate number of bookshelves for our house when we moved in. Said I was taking up too much space and the house is for everyone. The joke is on them, because now there are stacks of books in every corner and covering every surface. I think I will have to start spraying for silverfish.
Anonymous No.24637365
You think I can afford this? The fact that I have a real wooden bookshelf is, by itself, already pushing it. Does give me an idea for checking some antique stores, but frankly, the used market has become overpriced.

Do you actually like the works therein or do you just like le aesthetics like a woman?
The people who post this will never oblige themselves to read the poetry of Cowper or the novels of Bulwer Lytton. It's just a cool aesthetic to them. They have no love for old literature

People don't read any more. Why would they go to the effort of making nice books?

On a more serious note, I've had the insight for some 10-15 now that one of the main causes of modern design is that as we have filled our psychical world with massive riches in the form of electronic media, and as a result , because our psychical or mental world has become so crowded and dense, we wish to make our physical world as bare as possible.
This is probably not an explanation you've heard before.

Questionthreads are always spam, always wrong, and always dishonest. They are designed to get replies by being wrong. A shill posts 2+2=5 and anons give him (you)s saying it's 4. He doesn't read that, he's posting another zero effort questionthread, to slide the board.

I have that type of desk and I will say it's way too small to be useful for anything as a desk. We just use it to store lithium batteries and fireworks now. I would say if you hope to use it with a computer there's no way to make it work because the height is limited to around 14 inches with that cover obstructing some visibility, and the area of the desk with unlimited airspace is about four inches deep. If you hope to use it for writing, it's not going to be spine friendly, these desks are intended for women at the 5'4" height range I think.

I have that type of desk and I will tell you it's way too small to be useful as a desk. We just use it to store lithium batteries now. I would tell you if you hope to use it with a computer there's no way to make it work because the height is limited to around 14 inches with that cover obstructing some visibility, and the area of the desk with unlimited airspace is about four inches at the very front. If you hope to use it for writing, it's not going to be spine friendly, you had better get a writer's desk with the top that folds all the way back. I would think these desks are intended for women at the 5'2" height range.

Because in the 19th century they had no computers so your study desk could be enhanced with a big ass built in bookshelf to have reference materials at easy reach. You could still do that today, but you’re never going to actually be using it for this purpose, it’s just a giant unwieldy desk to hold books you’re probably going to read somewhere else.
