No, it doesn't.
Lets put the analogy together:

For this analogy to hold, it would require that male hunting dogs do not care about who the father of their offspring is. I can't speak for hunting dogs, but male wolves do frequently kill the offspring of rival wolves when they take over a pack.

That's not what Socrates says. He says that marriages should be awarded by the state. He's proposing a human husbandry (directed breeding) program, where the state has the best men breed with the best women. This is done under the illusion of a lottery system to placate the losers. Outside of the state-prescribed breeding, he sets boundaries for freedom to engage in voluntary sexual behavior (although he qualifies this by saying that promiscuity is impious), but with the proviso that children born outside of state-sanctioned unions will not be nourished by the state (i.e., left to die).

In conclusion, your summary is wrong because it's the state (i.e., the guardians), not the women, who are in charge of mating.

Remember that the starting point for this discussion is the principle that "friends should have all things in common." The problem that Socrates's system is intended to solve is the factionalism within the city due to family ties. If a father knows his children and favors his own children over the children of others, the city ceases to become one city and becomes functionally many cities. Everyone acts to the advantage of his own instead of advantage of the common good of the whole city. Remember that the guardians were also forbidden private property, and had all their needs supplied by the state.

Of course, Socrates's system is contrary to human nature, but letting married women sleep around with whoever they want doesn't produce superior. On the contrary, it leads to division and breakdown of unity in the city, and, if anything, it selects for immoral behavior, not virtue.

Again, the point of Socrates's system is that it's the guardians (who represent reason) that are in charge of marriage and breeding. To leave reproduction to the whims of the individual people is contrary to the whole point of The Republic.
