Where do I get rid of old books
Trying to refine my books which means I'm getting rid of a lot of them cuz they take up a lot of space books like Ripley's Believe it or not, Guinness world records, Nat Geo books on random animals diary of a wimpy kid should I just drop them off at that take a book leave a book? One of those free book things at a mall? Donate the non record books to a library? What are you guys doing when you get rid of old books?

Donate to your local thrift store. Value Village gives out 20% off coupons every time you donate, but it's better to donate to small, independent charity shops even if they don't give out coupons cause they're nonprofit. VV has the best business model going right now by the way – all their stock is free, they can charge whatever they want (again they don't pay for the used goods they sell) and their profit margin is 100%. As a consequence I feel no compunction in doing things like swapping tags on things or even doing the odd 'lift. Fuck em.

donate to local library
if they dont want them the books will appear in the for sale bin at the front door
or sell to 1/2 price books but you won't get much $$

Libraries really don't want your trash. Unless it's something people actually read (which you then wouldn't be discarding), it's just more work for them to throw away and sort through.

Leave them in a bag next to a library or second hand bookshop.

Stuff like Guinness world records and Ripley's absolutely are. It's a common complaint from librarians that people on them stuff that they know no one wants, and their day gets clogged up just disposing of it all. They /might/ take diary of a wimpy kid, if they don't already have ten copies.

How many millions of copies of Harry Potter and Windows '95 for dummies do you think they need?
