Yes. Modern leftism very much draws from Marxist thinking, wherein (true) communism is the natural state of man and everything bad is a social construct created by bad evil people (for Marx it was the bourgeoisie, for the modern left it has become white people).

Problem is, there's no difference between "tackling issues of racism etc." and "good guy fights bad guy, good guy wins" 99% of the time in practice. The people who believe in this ideology usually don't have the imagination for anything else (other than "moral greyness" I.e. a middle schooler's understanding of moral relativism).
