Consider Hollywood. Think of all the films that came out this year, 2025.

Now I didnt list all these movies because they were good, most of them are not really good, but there is a variety among them. Action, horror, scifi, superhero, comedy, etc. Now imagine none of these movies got made. Imagine that Hollywood said, "you know what? This year we're only making gooner films for women like 50 Shades and Twilight and Babygirl. That's it. Nothing for men." And then imagine Hollywood actually did that. And month after month it was just films of plain Jane getting railed by werewolves and murderers and millionaires and age gaps (where the women is way older, not the other kind of age gap [ew!!]) and abusive exes. Zero variety in genre. Studios refuse to make anything else. Movie theaters are flooded with bad boy harems. All your female coworkers are watching softcore pornography in the breakroom on their phone, right in front of you.
That's the current state of literature. And just to be clear, there's nothing wrong with porn, but when it becomes so ubiquitous that nothing else gets made... you'll hear from readers who arent into that shit.
