Hegel is a charlatan who conned entire generations of Germans with vapid circumlocution - read Schopenhauer and Kierkegaard instead. Or perhaps Kant if you wish to have some grounding for German idealism.

Wittgenstein is a strong recommendation as well, his work on linguistics is particularly interesting. However, the point - one we must not forget - is that OP would do best to avoid Hegel like the plague.

Everything you need is in the Encyclopedia. The Science of Logic is a more detailed version of the first volume. As far as background knowledge goes, you should be familiar with Kant. Reading some Fichte and Schelling will help but isn't strictly necessary. Philosophy of Right and the lectures on aesthetics are elaborations of parts from the last volume of the Encyclopedia.
