Have any writer ever done fantasy but using the same approach sci fi do to science?

Like trying to explain fantasy tropes like magic and dragons using scientific knowledge?

Like we could try to write about medieval alchemy but using our modern understanding of chemistry and physics.

Nothing I've read but I think Larry Niven's "The Magic Goes Away" was supposed to be like that. Charles E. Gannon's (Baen Books author) Vortex of Worlds series as well with a focus on archaeology iirc

Sounds like you want Zelazny's Lords of Light.
Guilty Gear and BlazBlue are also vidya examples of this.
