What are good books for Chinese history?
I’d like to read one on ancient, one on medieval and one on modern china (modern meaning the last 200 years).

There is no reliable Chinese history older than 200 years at most.

Just read Sima Qian. After that there is no good historians to read; so no "medieval" history for you. For modern China read Jonathan D Spence "search for modern China".
