Anyone work for Dundurn Press? Is this a scam?
They offered to hire me PT or FT and want to pay me via West Pay Bridge (suspicious site with no Google results). I tried to contact Dundurn, but they didn't respond. The affiliate bank wanted an IMF number. Is this legit, or are they trying to steal my identity? The manuscript they sent me seemed authentic. If this is a scam, then we should notify the real Dundurn Press that someone is impersonating them

How did you first get in contact with them? Did you apply to a job on their website? KYC is a vital step for the security of their operations yet they send prospective employees manuscripts before they’ve verified who they are?
Where do you see that email address listed? I would give them a call if I were you, get their number on their actual website

I was headhunted by an alleged employee who was emailing me via Spike. She gave me a sample page to review, which I did. Then, she sent me a full manuscript, which I also sent back with my changes.

The order was $9000 plus a bonus for handing in the project early. They told me to register with West Pay Bridge to receive the funds, but I can find no background on this alleged bank and it seems like it could be phishing.

I called Dundurn, but they had no idea what I was talking about. From what I understand, they use .com and not .info email addresses. So right now I supposedly have around 8000 GBP on a questionable banking website and am unsure what to do

Yeah I’m sorry man but this feels like a complete scam. I hope you didn’t put your heart into it because I know how hard it is to find work atm especially in publishing. The only consolation is that you only lost your time. They would have eventually asked you for ‘fees’ to access your 8000 pounds.

If you did send ID documents then I'm sure there's ways the government will help you.
I think the first step would be contacting the police but idk where you live.
At this stage you're probably fine but best to be sure.

If you gave them info, you have to work preemptively to make sure they do not fuck with your bank account. Lock it down however you can. Also you have to do something with the credit agencies to prevent anybody opening new bank accounts in your name, adn so on. Research it. There's a lot of stuff you have to do. They will probably try to take control of your email address, your SIM card, etc.

I froze my credit and notified my bank and changed most of my passwords and switched most of my accounts to a new email address. They didn't get my banking info but they do have my social and driver's license and address and most of the other stuff

I'm already basically homeless, if I'm now homeless and had my identity stolen too I will literally walk to Mexico if I have to. If even the job offers in this country are scams, I'm donezo. This country is worse than hell

Is it even a real manuscript? They probably ripped it off of somebody else. Post some screenshots if you can.

someone said the internal emails are .info and the public ones are .com

I'm 99% sure it was a scam but there's a remote chance it's legit

the logistics of this being faked don't make sense, who has an unfinished manuscript laying around? why would they make me do a sample page if it was all just to steal my identity?

>who has an unfinished manuscript laying around?

All the literary agencies right now have similar notices on their websites, so the scammers are targeting writers, people who don't even have money. I'm guessing in general they approach writers who have published something online. They say they work for a literary agency. Writer gives them manuscript and gets scammed.

I lived in Russia for a year, idk what propaganda you guys are consuming but Russia is a worse hell than America. There's no job prospects and no sun for 9 months out of the year. They have the most lopsided man/woman mortality rate in the developed world because of suicide, alcoholism, and sending their men to die as cannon fodder for border skirmishes.

On the other hand, their women have big tiddies and they will fuck the depression out of you one cold night at a time, and since all their men are dying there's a surplus of hot single women. So I would say do it. Go to Russia.

I still work for Dundurn. Sun up sun durn. They make me edit things. Manuscripts mostly, they are all from the same durn book. Erotic autofiction but I never get the erotic parts. Just pages and pages of this guy’s durning life and all he durns is go to the supermarket and ask if they have dundurnhills. And of course they don’t, why would you choose those over marbolos. So it just goes on and on and I keep correcting everything since Dundurn is a brand-forward company, so they insert their name into words when possible. It’s a new kind of advertising. You can’t even mention other brands, I just tried but it gets subsumed by the Dundurning and I don’t know if I can’t take it anymore. It’s Dundurn pressing me off.

It's a scam. Give up on it. There is no money for you. They want you to be desperate because it means they can drag you along further. The more desperate you are the more likely you are to make a concession or behave as if you have nothing left to lose, which will make it easier for them to get more information or even money from you. It's like the anon said about them asking for a fee to "unlock" your made-up funds -- if you're desperate you're going to be more likely to risk a small sum of money to receive the larger payout (which does not exist).

Doesn't matter whether that manuscript was real or not, you're not going to make any money from these people, and in fact all they want now is to make money from you.
