Why are zoomers obsessed with this retarded edgelord?

serious answer is that wendigoon did a video on blood meridian and zoomers love wendigoon

schizo answer is that zoomers are neo-puritans especially with social media/phones infecting everyone. the peak's passed I think but there's still shockwaves from the blast. their darker drives/unconscious currents/desires shoot outward through the internet looking for recognition and who better than the judge. plus he's got that cool factor. youtuber, vaguely classic literature, still seems modern and edgy

Really? Or is it just a small group of degenerates promoting it online? Not going to read this book for pedos and sodomites. This is supposed to be high art? This is supposed to be a highly acclaimed great novel and staple of our culture? It's disgusting.

Something went wrong at some point. A wrong turn, a descent. This was 1985. It's been creeping for decades. I refuse to believe this is just the nature of the world. There are good and pure things in this world. Something changed. I believe the intellectuals were the first to abandon God.

zoomies don't understand the metaphor is the important bit, so they focus on the writing.
And the best writing is put into top ten lists
If you want a marketable character you can sell funko pops of, you can't make him an actual vile.
so Judge is 1. cause hes what an actual evil person would do with his time.

Zoomers have an extremely neurotic morbid fascination with pedophilia and the accusations of vile irredeemable sin, and what >>24673345 said this makes the judge like an actual evil, not some salvageable safe edgy kind of evil. On top of that the character and book have a cool, edgy, unique and almost high classical cosmic horror tone so it's a recipe for tik tok hits.

Why is 4chan obsessed with zoomers?
No matter what board I go on there’s some thread about them and a behavioral trait about them that is completely made up or at least far less represented in actuality than is assigned to them on the internet.
I work with a lot of zoomers and they seem exactly the same as everyone their age was 20 years ago.

4chan is mainly populated by millennials at this point, which is to say people who are transitioning into old age. And like all the ageing and old people during all eras, they obsess over the youth. "Zoomer" obviously doesn't denote members of Gen Z in particular, but is mere slang for youths in general, much like how "boomers" has morphed into new slang for geezers.

Gave it an honest try and quit halfway through.
I just caught myself having to reread constantly my brain preferred to daydream rather than absorb anything from the page. I don't even think it's badly written but the story did not engage me whatsoever. I wouldn't suggest it has nothing beyond shock value as a story, but I think it was more interested in being commentary than an actual story with stakes you're expected to care about and it made it intolerably dull to me. Or the brain fog is winning, I don't really care which, I dropped it.

It's little more than the author's barely disguised awful fetishes hidden behind a false veil of cynicism and nihilism which considering how the other anon talks, he's heavily against

Zoomers are overwhelmingly separated from society, reliant on Internet anonymity and even AI chatbots, often addicted to insanely degenerate bullshit stemming from the deepest, most distasteful pits of the net, and attached to the point where a normal life is usually a very hard thing to achieve for them. It's funny though that 4channers, the earliest generation to end up like this, is annoyed at them kek. I guess it's sad seeing how people stoop down to this level

I didn't understand the purpose of the bit with the Judge and the preacher. So yeah, he slanders the guy in front of the congregation, and for some reason they immediately believe him (supernatural manipulation maybe, or they just stupid?) and then later on he blatantly admits he lied about the whole thing and instead of lynching him they all just laugh. Was fucking weird.
Anonymous No.24676035
>>24676021
There is a supernatural element for sure, but something people forget is the judge's height. He is near-on 7 feet tall, and he looks intimidating in every way possible. People naturally defer to people of enormous stature, even moreso if they are well spoken and carry themselves well. If he was 5'6" and tried pulling this trick the preacher and everyone else would've had him quickly strung up.
I don't particularly like the book, but I liked this scene because it shows how easily manipulated the average person is.

Blood Meridian was pushed by Redditards and Discordtroons. Before that nobody gave a shit about the book except shitty book reviewers that don't influence the average person. Resident zoomer here. I originally heard of the book when this bisexual DJ guy I knew showed me the most retarded sentence I've ever seen. But what really got me to read it was for some reason the book was getting shilled like crazy on here a little while back (if anyone remembers that). Also when I saw pic rel I busted my gut laughing. Although I usually just lie to people I know and say it was the wendigoon video so when someone asks where I read it I don't ruin my image.

It was too on the nose for me. I know nothing about this character is supposed to be subtle, and mccarthy was going for a big hit to introduce him, but idk. it felt almost comedic in nature, which you might argue is part of it, but i dont mean comedic in absurdity, more like comedic in stupidity. he was written in like how a fanfic writer would put their main villain in. THIS is the bad guy, he is so bad he will make you hate your preacher..

What made those scenes so gripping is that whether it‘s because they still needed him or for some metaphorical reason about not being able to condemn him for the evil they all had or most especially for what felt like a near certainty that he‘d somehow still get the upper hand: there seemed to be about as much likelihood of achieving that as there is in going out demiurge hunting in the woods tonight. It was tantalizingly so close but unquestionably beyond their reach.

they were shit scared of him. it's made clear in the subtext throughout. they know this guy is something other than human, and they couldn't leave him if they wanted to. he would find them, and kill them, if they tried it. theyre tethered to him, which is another metaphor for their evil deeds i suppose.
